Back up blade to your Becker

In my bail out kit I keep in my car, there is an ESEE HEST and a Mora classic #2. The Mora is set up as kind of a mini stand alone kit, with a heavy walled plastic bag for water storage, a lighter, misch metal rod, duct tape and parachute cord lanyard. I am going to be putting a convex, with more of a 20 degree angle, on the HEST. It's just not as sharp as my BK2, yet.

My kfu edc. Its gone everywhere since I got it. And if I'm carrying a Becker its most likely my bk10. I do have a para 2 enroute along with a 0350 so who knows maybe ill carry a folder.

Nice KFU EDC Warrior, what is the overall length on that thing? It looks perfect for a pocket carry fixed blade.

Warrior, I had one of those Dozier folders for years. It is a great knife for the money. It was one of those knives that just felt right. I don't carry folders anymore, only fixed blades and slipjoints but that was a good one.

I love it. Damn thing is so light, I don't even notice it in my pocket. Comes razor sharp too.

I liked the thumb stud and it is light as can be.

Birdkiller,
I stopped carrying folders about 6 months ago. Ive actually given everything I owned away as gifts. For me a small fixed blade and slpjoint are better suited for my everyday cutting tasks. I actually did my own cutting tests with a couple older carbon slipjoints and a few folders I owned at the time. For what I used the knife on, wood, paper, zip ties, steak, etc the slipjoint was a more efficient cutter. There have only been a fewtimes where I needed more than the slippie and the fixed blade covered it.

I've had a similar experience, KFU.
My folder still rides with me, but I never reach for it. I'd rather fondle a small belt knife and it's easier to draw.
There's no room in my pockets for a slippie, tho I sheath-carried a swiss army officer's for years.
OTOH, my folder just disappears IWB at 8-o'clock, never catches on anything, never pokes me in the side, scares anybody on my belt, etc.

Silver, that's a beautiful new knife! FBF, looks like?

Most of the time when I'm in the woods with my Beckers I have my little sod buster slip joint in my pocket, the larger ones usually stay in the pack or the cabin unless I plan on doing some chopping the 14 is what I usually have with me when roaming around. However I do keep a little knife I made out of an old file in the piggyback part of the bk9 sheath. Its nothing special I just haven't pulled the trigger on a remora yet (its on my Christmas list). Once I eventually get one ill probably swap it out for the remora. So in summary its usually a bk9,bk2,bk14 and my sodbuster because its perpetually in my pocket.

Vic SwissTool is always on me, so it's a constant backup. Best multitool in the world, period.

I back up my BK-7 with an Opinel No. 9, super sharp, excellent slicer, great steel, and so cheap that if you lose it it's not a drama. You can literally sharpen those knives with any flat rock you find.
