Back up knives

It was bad info, if you think there's no difference between the steels listed, you need to do some research...

My point is your comment had nothing to do with the knife in question.

The whole comment and run thing without giving at least a sentence of a reason or opinion get's old.

That said , I'm aware of various blade steels and their performances.

yeap...

A total aside - the Buck 860 Hartsook is a teeny (1.88" blade; 4.25" OAL) blade in black oxide coated S30V - MSRP $39. Made in ID - except the imported neck sheath. I had the 151 Tom Mayo Waimea - more of a 'knife blank' in a larger S30V blade style. The desire to wrap the handle in Paracord is hard to ignore... but then it won't hang in the neck sheath. It really is a great 'knife blank'. Mine went to the sand box with a 'mercenary plumber' friend... who is back now (I need a use report!).

I always think of an Altoids tin knife as a 'back up knife'. For me, that is a Vic SAK - like a Tinker family member. My EDC back pocket rider, a Vic SAK Farmer, isn't a bad choice, either. The OP's Buck looks fine, too - their 420HC, heat-treated by Paul Bos, isn't to be looked down upon - keeps an edge for some time - and can be re-edged easily. Any doubts can be squashed for ~$26 at a WallyWorld - buy a 110! That could be a 'back up' to a Busse - great folder.
