Back WITH Black!!!

Heheheh,
I know something you guys want to know....

The shipment arrived yesterday, and shipping will start back up on Monday,
after inventory is done.
Thanks, TJT

Hi Chad and Terry, thanks for the infos. Indeed, the knife is a beauty - the next on the Biscuits' list. :) And I do love it's a serrated one, BTW.
Chad, I think your daughter will have a whole lotta bunch of knives in a couple years. Better start saving for a new (and much bigger) display case. ;) Oh, and for a new bogu, you know how she needs one... in pink  :p

Hey Alex,

...as for new bogu, not yet...she's still growing and has yet to "pay her dues" to see if she will continue Kendo or not. She was however, eyeing up a beautiful red and white set of bogu though...;)

God bless and mahalo much:cool:

I'd like to post my impression/evaluation of one of these BLACK BEAUTIES. Boker did a great job on these BSFs.

The AUS-8 came shaving sharp from the factory. It has maintained a very good edge through the light use that I have given it thus far. I believe most of us are familiar with the advantages/disadvantages of a CE edge, and the one on the BSF fall in line. I found it good in a sawing motion, or for starting into material then pulling the knife into the PE section. On some cardboard, I got some snagging of the teeth; I was angling the knife with the handle below the blade, so I was promoting the snagging a bit.

The knife was completely SUBDUED; only where the ball bearing detent, and the lock spring rubbed against the blade, was there any sign of "silver" steel. I've been impressed with the duability of the black coating on the blade and the hardware. There's no apparent erosion of the coating on the obverse side of the knife (clip, screws, scale) despite two weeks of use, including riding in a right-hand pocket clipped and dropped into a pocket. It also held up to cutting through some cardboard with no damage. I think I will have to go chops at the trees, and see how the coating takes that.

The blade opens very smoothly, thanks to teflon washers. The ergonomics are typical of a CLB design. I'm already working a project with Potterma for some BSF pimpin'! Imagine a S&W J-frame revolver blued with pearl or ivory grips, and you'll see my vision.

I have to say that I think these had to be made in black & CE; it just makes it look BA**SS for this "little blade that could!"

Aloha xChris,

Very nice to see you here, and mahalo much for a great review! Oh man, lemme know how the tree chopping goes with this one! :D

Great move regarding a project with the master SF molester potterma! I think I will have to do the same, so I can keep one of these BSF's for a "looker", and then I might finally have the heart to USE mine.:o

However, what's with this, "the little blade that could!" It's more like, "the little blade that DID!":D :D :D Just kidding...

Anyway, I thank you once again xChris for your time and efforts in this review. Careful on the tree chopping...and do be safe.;)

God bless knifebro, and see ya later:thumbup:

Aloha ALL,

Past: Boker USA gets a few production samples of the new ALL Black CE SF, model 586. Aside from sending some key folks one, Boker VP, Mr. Dan Weidner, says he's got one of those headed my way.
I then notice that Zip gets one. Then a military tester gets one...as well as famed knife designer of the SOG Revolver, Mr. Robbie Roberson gets one. Me, I didn't get one yet. So I email Mr. Weidner and he's all like, "Ooooooh...let me double check if we sent one of those FEW production samples to you."

I think what really sealed the deal on this ALL Black version was when they saw swissbianco's custom black SF at a show. So to swissbianco, mahalo much for liking the SF enough to custom color yours.;)

thanks chad and glad that your well after the earthquake. youst read that on top and only thinked where is my black factory sample LOL.

as i show mrs boker in stuttgart germany gunshow the all black she liked it, then the us boker salesmanager at the blade show liked it that mutch that he send the german boker owner over to my table, glad to speak an bit german. remember you told me theres no plan to do an all blk one, the us salesmanager tell me the same but after that it moves FAST...

only make it over to the next blade show, that free black factory sample needs your signature, then stay in my collection.

to push the limits, i may have to make an damascus bladed version and an gold plated frame....

keep up the good work and i looking for an all blk lava...
