Just subscribed to both of these magazines...does anybody read them on the regular?? good stuff??

I pick both up whenever I see them at the book store. They are great mags for sure.

i have a subsciption to back woodsman and have bought a wilderness way or two. both great magazines. actually, you'll be seeing my name in the march backwodsman probably. backwoodsman has a much larger variety of topics, whereas wilderness way is very concentrated on bushcraft.

i pick up Backwoodsman most every issue and have a library of them in my man cave. my main interest i find is how to use old things and "beater" stuff to build simple tools, gear , and weapons and such. alo like to hear stories of people in the past who made their living off the land.

there was a story of this "mental-case" hermit who roamed the wilderness and broke into shacks and forest service supplies; was a very fasinating story!

I subscribe to "Backwoodsman" and pick up "Wilderness Way" fairly often. BWM is more general, including homesteading, alt fuels, gardening, fishing, food preservation, winemaking, etc. WW is a little more narrowly-focused on "primitive" hunting and skills, but they also have various articles. "Primitive Archery" is a cool mag, too.

All three are heavily reader-contributed and support a wonderful DIY attitude. I've seen at least a couple really good authors in 2 or more of them, writing on different but related subjects. Simply put, if you like this forum, you'll like any of those mags

i don't subscribe to either of them, but do buy them regularly... i like both of them a lot, but as with most magazine's, they can be hit or miss....

I've never seen Wilderness Way but Backwoodsman is usually pretty good. I thumb through it at the newsstand before I buy it.

I never miss an issue of either. The Backwoodsman is my favorite though.

I get both. if you like to tinker with stuff, Backwoodsman is great. I learned how to make rings out of silver coins, make slingshots out of brass rod, sharpen a knife using a coffee mug and, well, you get the picture.

As mentioned, Wilderness Way is more limited to primitive skills. I enjoy it as well but, between the two, Backwoodsman is my favorite.

Backwoods Home is good to. It's mostly about self sufficient living, gardening, solar, etc, with emphasis on preparedness for whatever comes along.

I used to subscribe to WW, but sometimes had problems with delivery (post office related not WW), so now I get them through a local bookseller who calls me when they're in.

I also have some Backwoodsman - I buy them whenever there's more than one article of interest.

I have most Primitive Archer, and all copies of Bulletin of Primitive Technology up until the last one.

I bought Wilderness Way once and then looked at another edition and rejected it. I think you learn a lot more here and the writing is better too!

I am a subscriber to Backwoodsman, and have picked up a few issues of Wilderness Way (got me hooked on Kellams).

I love Backwoodsman. IMO, by far the best mag of its type.

I pick up Wilderness Way when there's something of interest. It comes and goes for me. For a long time they'll have nothing I care about and then an issue comes out and I can't get enough and wish the articles were longer.

I also regularly get Primitive Archer and Traditional Bowhunting (so I can dream of being a much better archer than I am).

I have read one of the Back woodsman and am waiting for the next issue to come out. I am considering getting it as a subscription just want to check out another issue to make sure I really want it. The one I did get and read I was impressed with the content. never too sharp you better have that bow done by then. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=614422 . Last look there was 30 that voted in the pole so it looks like it will happen. Doug

I just found Backwoodsman just a few months ago and am addicted. Ordering back copies. I can't beleive I never found it before.
Reading them is like listening to my old man and grandpa (we settled saskatchewan in 1872)

Good point about the back issues, Brad. I called and ordered some last spring; the lady who answered the phone was nice, the cost seemed fair and they arrived quickly. Good folks to deal with  The info in BWM isn't really dated (or I guess you could say it's all outdated), so I just had them send me the five oldest ones they had around.
