Backpack help for a newbie

Hey guys.

So I'm looking to get a new pack. Right now, I have a made in China Trans Kelso that I used in highschool. It's kinda small I've noticed when doing over-nighters at my friend's place. I can only mash a small amount of gear into it... When I pack my laptop on other non-outdoor excursions, it feels like the straps are ready to seperate from the bag. :thumbdn:

I used the search function to try and solve my problem and I think it just made it worse  I did narrow it down and learn some new things about bags though. I almost went and bought a medium ALICE pack but decided I might want something other than old milsurp gear (I will buy one sometime though, they're pretty neat).

I guess my requirements are this:
- 2500 cu in+ (I think? I dunno. That sounds big enough? Maybe a overnight/weekend pack. You guys are probably better at determining size than me)
- Flat earth tones, like od green or tan
- Rugged
- Less than 60 bucks
- Possibly MOLLE attachments

Any help guys? Feel free to point out all the other stuff I forgot to specify - Until a couple hours ago I was fine with any old bag I picked out at Wally World :)barf:), and that doesn't teach you much about bags.

Broke down and looked at some Maxpeditions. Wish I didn't. Man, I want the Condor II...

Looks like it won't be so simple to choose a pack. :foot:

It's actually pretty small-it'd be tough to fit more than an absolute minimal overnight kit into that bag-and the shoulder pads are pretty skinny and tend to dig alot. A dedicated daypack, definitely, but recreational overnighters or weekend trips, I'd look at something bigger. Check out the Mountainsmith Approach 3.0, you may be able to find one around 75...

Check out closeouts from Sierra Trading Post where you can find Lowe and other name brand backpacks pretty cheap. I have purchase three of them there at great prices. Where else will you find a new Lowe for $60? My Contour IV was a lot more then that but much less the retail close out price as well.

Look for something in the 3,000 to 5,000 cubic inch range with a descent hip belt and then stuff what ever you want in it. :D

Or go all out with an expedition pack and wear out your knees .... :D (actually need an evil angel smiley here).

Yeah it is small now that you mention it.

The more I look the more I realize I'm going to have to raise my minimum price  Anyone have experience with Voodoo Tactical?

The Voodoo bag I'm looking at right now is the Enhanced Medium MOLLE Assault pack

So today I purchased a Condor Outdoor 3 Day Assault Pack based upon the rave reviews on survivaltopics forum. About 3000 cu in total, plenty of PALS webbing, room for a hydration pouch, and my favorite color, OD green. 70 bucks (not including shipping). (I just wish it wasn't a direct rip off of a more reputable company's design. That's not cool. :thumbdn:)
