Backpackable tents

Eureka Solataire - Great idea, not enough ventilation. I have to admit I did not set it up with all of the stakes though, so it might not be the tents fault. it has a lot of nice features, the best being you can enter/exit directly through the top of the screen roof. it can be set up with just four stakes as well, which is nice . worst feature is the bumble bee color pattern.

Someone mentioned the Bullfrog/tadpole variations, I had a similar Eureka Autumn wind, and if you don't mind the weight, are all top notch. Free standing tents rock.

Big Agnes Seedhouse SL 2. Spendy, but well made and just a hair over 3 lbs. packed wieght.

My lightest solo rig is a silnylon Tarptent (with the built-in floor and bug netting). Weighs about 24 oz. It's taken high winds, rain, and about a 4" snow load (never had it in serious snow).

I love my Big Agnes Seedhouse 1. It is way bigger than most other tents in its class... I'm 6'2" and 250 and I fit in it with room to bring my pack inside. I can sit up inside to get dressed with no trouble. I've used it a lot and it seems like it's going to last a very long time.

+1 on that one. I have the Seedhouse SL 1 and it is insanely light and a great tent. Just be sure to get the footprint as the tent's bottom material is not durable like a tarp or anything. I use this exclusively when backpacking. Weighs just over 2 lbs. with rain fly and foot print...

That's an excellent one!

I use a tarpent Squall for most things... Also have an REI Quarterdome UL that's good value and quality if you want double wall. Could give better advice with more of an idea of parameters you're looking for...

Weight, how many people, what kind weather, etc
