Backpacking Beater Blade?

nothing wrong with the Gerber sliding saw -- just remember it's a PULL saw. If you try to push cut, you will most likely bend the blade.

For my day-hikes, weight is of no concern when compared to the satisfaction I get from pounding dead trees with a huge fixed blade. And I have to hike straight up and down mountains. Chopping is simply the best for stress relief, exercise, and FUN.
I carry my Busse NMFBM most often, which weighs like 30oz....11 inch blade will also baton through a Cadillac....and it gets replaced if I break it (when hell freezes over).
Also love CS Trailmaster , Busse NMSFNO , Busse BOSS Jack , BM CSK 2 + BM Bone Collector FB Guthook.
- Hate my Gerber Big Rock (partial serrations-vomit-)
My Krein PSK and Spyderco Millitary usually take care of everything else.

Thanks for the tip. It doesn't mention that anywhere on the package... but you probably just saved the thing's life.

Well, I think you nailed my reason for getting knife obsessed lately :)

No problem -I have one that lives in the truck, works great up to about 3" thick branches.
