What is your Backpacking blade set.

Here is mine in the order of what I have used the most in backcountry
1.KB USMC, mora clipper, Leatherman blast
2.becker bk9, clipper, leatherman blast

What I plan to use
3. kb usmc, clipper, blast, ontario machete 18 inch
4. Mora Classic, Ontario machete 18 in, blast
5. Mora Classic, Ontario machete 18 in
6. Mora classic, Fisarks axe, blast
7.becker bk2 with ontario machete (w/ or without multitool)

Guys some of these I haven't used yet but I'm planning too. I have more knifes than I do trips ;). My preference is Mora classic, ontario machete. Why no multitool? Because I hardly ever use it.

I dropped the mutlitool a long time ago and haven't looked back.

Right now it's
Koster bushcraft
ESEE Izula
And one of the following: GB mini(my fav), cold steel trail hawk, gerber folding saw, and when I get an edge on it a Tram 12" machete.

Seriously considering a Stead knife by Koyote to replace the Koster. :D

Edit: Although on a lot of hikes in the summer I only carry the Izula.

Fixed blade(CRK GB, shadow IV, JK camp knife, etc), SAK Champ and estwing sportsmans hatchet.

ESEE Lite machete ,SAK "Rucksack" and a ESEE3 CP PE is strapped to my Pack
using a S-biner to have SAK clipped to should strap.

Its been a BRKT Snowy River or JK Anniversary Knife. I'm hoping to take my Koyote Stead knife backpacking soon though. I used to carry an Outdoor Edge Magna folder for my main knife, but that was before I found BF.

I pair the small to medium fixed blade up with a Vic Farmer and a SOG mini pliar (used to carry a leatherman wave)

Depending on the trip I might add a Fiskers hatchet or saw, but not always.

And I always keep a spare Mora in the pack.

Brandon

SAK Farmer, Mora classic and an Estwing No. 1 hatchet. Just bought a Fiskar's sliding saw that hasn't arrived yet, but I'm considering adding it for efficient cross-cutting, rather than chopping with the hatchet.

esee izula(around neck with psk), esee 6(in bag) and hest(on shoulder strap of bag)
small old camp axe that was my pops(on bag)
whatever folder(s) that happen to be in my pocket
folding saw and one of those flexible chain saws(in pack)
used to sometimes carry an old machete
between the esee 6 and hatchet, the machete seemed unnecessary
tho i still sometimes drop it into a homemade sheath between my back and pack
just cuz its fun to have/use

In addition to my response I should add that I rarely backpack in the normal sense of the word.. What I mean is I rarely go out out into the bush with the specific intention of covering ground.. I might hike into a spot and set up and camp or practice skills, or experiment or hunt or fish.. and maybe explore a bit.. but I rarely point a-point b hike

me too !

I carry a Sabertooth made by Jefferson Spivey. The double row of saw teeth along the spine are very aggressive.

I sometimes cover ground, but distance isn't all that large, but often do as RR says.

Favorite Combos:

Brian Andrews Bushcrafter + Victorinox RuckSak
Bruce Culberson EDC + Wildertool S-Curve + Vic. RuckSak
ESEE-3/6 + Vic RuckSak or substitute with Farmer or Camper SAK models

New Brian Andrews Bitterroot - can Substitute Culberson EDC or potentially substitute the Bushcrafter in combo #1 for my lightest combo.
Bryan Breeden Cub can substitute for Culberson EDC or RC-3

Lately I've been using a BRKT Rising Wolf and a Vic. Electrician Plus. On the rare occasion when I think I'll want a bigger blade than the RW, I'll take a Spyderco Rock Salt or Aqua Salt.

I quit taking the chopper last few trips. Just wasn't chopping/batonning, really. So I've settled on 2 combos (depends on if I'm planning on fishing or not):
combo on fishing trips: Vic Outrider, Mora Allround, Laplander saw (plus some needlenose pliers)
combo on non-fishing trips: Vic Alpineer, Mora Allround, Laplander saw, Vic Spirit

The last trip I went on I had: Koster bushcraft, kabar mini dozier, pocket chainsaw, & a leatherman.

I only used the Koster & the pocket chainsaw.

David Farmer 3" drop point and Lee Reeves double bit nessmuck hatchet.
or
buck 110
or
dp 2' wharncliff fixed blade and buck 303 slip joint.
Those are the usuall combos I carry on my backpacking trips. Probably the first one mentioned gets the most carry time though.

I use a Benchmade Griptilian (orange handle, of course) and my Sparky 4 (orange handle, of course). I usually don't need much more than that. For cutting, I use a pocket chainsaw instead of an axe, chopper, or hatchet. I baton with either one of the knives to get stuff smaller for the fire.
