I was trying to find a good forum like this one, but more on the subject of backpacking. Can anyone recommend a good one? I thought it would be good to ask here since many of you are into camping, hiking, and backpacking. Thanks

I have been a member here for years and really like the forum but, they mostly cater to New England and New York so there are lots of good people to answer just about any question you might have about camping/backpacking. You might have a little more problem getting information about doing it in PA. If you want information on The Whites, Adirondacks or Catskills or any of the other places in NY and New England, this is a great site.

I agree that both WhiteBlaze and Backpacker sites are good also.

really OT, but I was in the last issue of Backpacker :)
They actually have a picture of me using a knife in there!

No S**t. Why? I use to pick that magazine up every month for years. I haven't gotten one in a couple of years now. If I get a chance I'll check one out. Why did they have you in there?

I think Pg 44 and one other page, January issue. I need to find my copy somewhere. If you have it, can someone send me a PDF? :)

Oh! I was lookin in the last issue, March 2010. I'll dig out the January issue and see if I can find and scan it.

Nope. Still no joy. Page 44 is backpack "weekend packs" reviews.

edited to keep true to topic, not bash.

Whiteblaze and Backpackinglight have their gram-weenies, but they are good counterpoints to this forum which (IMO) tends toward the 'very prepared' theory of backpacking and gear selection. Maxpedition may make excellent, well built packs, but they would not be my first choice when hiking a blazed, maintained trail.
