Backpacking in VA Nov 5-7th

Light Backpacking November 19-21, (optional to 22nd)
-What: Backpacking Trip in Mt Rogers VA
-Where: Little Dry Run Wilderness portion,
-How Many Miles: Only about 4.4 to start out with. We can modify it to be a 20 mile loop, but I was planning on just hiking in, camping, and doing some recreational bushcraft. The trail head also gives options to go visit scenic lookouts, base camp and explore, etc. I would really like to do at least a 4 mile orienteering bushwack into the interior once we make camp, if possible
-How Many People: 10 max
-Where to meet: We will be meeting at the little dry run trailhead (see below) Friday night. I will be going there ahead of time to make sure there are good camping spots at the trail head and to make sure car parking will be OK.
-Optional Sunday night/ Monday Morning campout: Those who wish to can camp out Sunday night on my property, or an alternative location next to the New River.

A short trading session and Garage sale will happen Friday night

Me and Joe have been messaging back in forth getting this set up, and Its gonna be alot of fun! I mean backpacking, bushcraft, and a trading session. How could it get any better?

I don't know anything about the area but do know that the 19th - 22nd is during firearms deer season. If it is like many areas around here the good spots will be taken. Best of luck to you!
 
Date has been changed to the weekend of Nov 6th. Have about 5 or 6 people going right now, lets get a few more to join the crew!

As long as everybody is over 18 (I'm assuming they are), then we should be good to go.
 
Did Mt. Rodgers in '08 as a day hike- up & back is not a bad hump if you're moderately fit. Beautiful country- you'll have a fine time folks- wish I could join you!

You need a pistol permit in NC to transfer pistols. Not sure if its like that in VA, but better safe then sorry. Dont want to get up there, and not be able to get it home (if I traded for one)
