No, But my father would be the one to receive the gun. I am only 14 FYI. I do know more about guns & survival skills then my father, As well as a basic understanding of gun laws in NC.

Well, I was going to say that if you're 21 or older, it's my understanding that in VA a permit is not needed for a person-to-person transfer of a handgun. The gun would, of course, need to be registered with your local county Sheriff's department when you got home.

ETA: In light of all this, it's probably not a good idea to do the gun trading thing. I'm not even entirely sure we're allowed to have guns at Mt. Rogers.

I agree, Be simpler to leave the guns at home. Ill be bringing a few pieces of gear, and a couple knives to trade. Might even make a knife to bring.

I'll be in mid Georgia though, hiking and camping for that week.

If I couldn't swing an overnighter would it be OK to stop by some time Saturday? It looks like it is only a couple of hours away but I'm not sure of my schedule. The weather that time of year is usually pretty nice. I hope you have a great time.
