Backpacking "survival" axe

Anything can be overdone. (Well, maybe not every single thing.) Folks who outdoor west of the mountains and north of Eureka have a different opinion on the wisdom of tools to open up wood and get at the inside.

Certainly, why carry anything you are very unlikely to use - unless you might die from the omission.

I would look at husqvarna axe's for hiking . Forest axe was around $70. Gransfors will be double but fit and finish are nicer. I like larger heavier(3lb+) axes for splitting and chopping around camp.
