The container is made of hard plastic, water tight (I add a ranger band to ensure your kit is water tight), holds the entire kit, and works as a expedient reel and rod. Wrapped around this tube is a yard of red duct tape. We all know how great duct tape is! This type of fishing used to be called Hobo or Hand fishing - and after an extensive test this summer - it works! At various lakes this summer I was catching as much or more as the other fisherman with poles and full tackle boxes. Simply underhand or sling cast your line out (I can get this rig to cast a full 25 yards!) and let the weight, hook, and bait fall to desired depth to start fishing.

The kit comes ready to fish with approx 30 yards of 12 pound test red fishing line (fish can't see red!) tied (arbor knot at the top to prevent slipping at full cast) and wrapped around the top of the kit. It is held in place by a 'ranger band'. There is a bobber knot/bead, premium Thill bobber, two sinkers and a Eagle Talon hook tied (improved hook knot) at the end. Simply add bait (supplied) and you are fishing in a matter of seconds.

Inside the kit comes with 24 pieces of artificial bait (pink and chartgruse) in a sealed baggie in case you cannot find bait in your situation.

Also included in another bag is:

1) 8 Assorted hooks: 3 size 10 gold and 4 size 12 bait holder hooks.
2) 10 or more split shot sinkers
3) 3 Treble hooks for drop lines.
4) 2 curly tail lures (3/8th ounce waited head)
5) 9 curly tail lure replacements (3 different colors: Chartreuse & Black, Pumpkin Seed, Blue & Silver translucent)
6) 3 pre-tied bobber knots and beads.
7) a small styrofoam bobber
8) A screw eye to make an expedient fishing pole out of in the field.
9) I am also including spare Ranger bands for the kit.

But that is not all! ;)

Included is also a drop line of seventy pound test. This is used in conjunction with your treble hooks as lines tied on the bank and left over night. In a survival situation, you can essentially be 'fishing' 24 hours a day. These lines have been known to catch everything from catfish to turtles. Any protein helps!

But wait - there's more!

I have included a bobbin filled with 50 feet of 30 pound test spyder wire! This no memory blend can be used for a dedicated fishing pole (use the eye hook above, a long stick, your extra bobber, bobber knot, sinkers, and hooks) and you will have a great dedicated pole. If two of you are in a survival situation, you can double your odds with this addition to your kit.

I will also include a full set of instructions with knots, directions for use, and ideas for supplementing your kit while in the bush.

All of the equipment is top notch and fully tested!

One last thing I should mention - these kits fit PERFECTLY (no rattle) inside of a Klean Kanteen 16 ounce stainless steel bottle. You can buy this (not included) and have a place to carry water, boil water, and a fishing kit - with minimal weight and size!

No thanks, I would entertain trades, and I love the classic Buck, but not right now.

Trades would likely only be partial trades for Bark River knives - like the Pro Scalpel or the new Little Brother.

I can ship overseas - It will just be actual shipping minus 5 dollars.

Can you PM me a postal code?

TF

Hmmm, I don't think I can PM - the postal code is 1063, though I doubt the cost would be any different to anywhere in Auckland, New Zealand.

I have paid US$12 before to have a package sent to New Zealand. I can send a paypal payment using my CC - I think there is a small fee that would end up coming off that. If the cost to me is around $40 then I would be keen - it looks like a useful emergency kit.

Paypal sent!

This really looks like a useful kit that should work pretty much anywhere that has fish - great for the Bug Out Bag or camping kit.

My kit came today. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone and everyone that goes hiking or camping. It is put together well, with quality gear, you just cant beat it. Thanks again TF, you knocked this one out the park.
