Backpacking to Young lakes, Yosemite

Wow, a lot of nice photos in there. I really like the one where the lake is like a mirror. Thanks for posting

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Beautiful.
Hey. Since you are happy with that pack carrying close to 40 lbs:thumbup: what model is it and how big are you ?
Either the wife is super tiny or your NFL sized.Or both.

Lol, both me and my wife laughed out loud at your post. Yeah, she's short at 5' 0", I'm 6'0" 200lb. so not quite NFL sized, lol.

The pack is a deuter Aircontact (ACT Lite 65 +10) It has a 50lb. capacity, and weighs 4lbs., but loads feel much lighter than they did in the 3lb. packs.

My wife has the same exact bag, but the woman's version ACT Lite 60 + 10 SL. She also really loves hers. After hours of walking around REI with loaded packs, she was tired and ready to go home, unsatisfied with the 6 or so packs she tried, then she tried on this one, and immediately said it was the one, she said it was leaps and bounds more comfortable than anything else she tried on.

Oh, and she was carrying 32lbs. in hers on this trip.

Awesome Nick...... I love Yosimite...havent been in waay too long.

Hope the hip is healin good so you can get some good ride time in this year still....

Yeah, the hip is doing fine, a lot better than the rest of my body, I've lost so much lung capacity and physical fitness. I already took the bike on a trip to the dam, it was harder than it usually is, but I made it. I'm gonna try and go to the dam at least twice a week until I'm good to go on some trails again.

Thanks for the pics! What is the red thing on your pack? Camera tripod?

Lol, no, I'm not that into photography!
The red thing is a really thin plastic thing that goes over flourescent light bulbs. I've got my regular 2 piece fishing rod in there, because I still haven't sprung for a 4 piece rod. Maybe by next trip...

Great pics. Thanks!!
You really bring back memories.
One of the earliest and best backpacking trips that I have ever been on was to the second lake at Young Lakes.

Absolutely beautiful!! Coming out of a cold, dry winter, most all Africa is beiges and browns ...no green anywhere!! It lifts the spirits to see nature so green. Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll order one up since I'm about your size. That company has been around since Jesus was a corporal. They must have it figured out. I still wear a 25 year old Kelty, most of the time.

I rent cabins down here and a lot of the kids show up with Bellz and Whistlez. I've tried on a ton of packs that advertise in the ragazines and never could get too excited over any of them.

I have ona those models of spouse as well.
Here's something for the stocking this year.........LOL:D

I still recommend trying it on before buying, but if that's not possible, I don't think you will be disappointed. It's a one size fits all pack too, so you don't have to worry about getting fitted, just move the shoulder straps up or down to adjust to the length of your back.

Awesome pics - glad to hear your hip is good. It looks like you guys had a blast, thanks for sharing the pics.

Man those pics are AWSOME, i were surprised that there was almost no snow... How was the weather up there???
What packs did you look at before you got this one???
