That is Exactly what I plan to do, My son just turned 9 last weekend.
How long did it take you guys ?
That's awesome --- thank you for sharing and good for you --- sometimes planting a seed of interest where there is no initial interest --- blossoms into a lifelong passion. Great pics and great knife!! Cheers!
Now every guy will have BB13 lol at least this guy lolThanks for sharing.
Everh guy should have a 1311.
That's awesome, congrats!!! I'm honestly surprised the 1311 is legal in the park. My Chopweiler has spent some time there with me near Glacier Point with some snow still on the ground.

I don't think there are any restrictive laws in federal wilderness parks. Now guns are another thing.
This is really neat. She did a amazing job making that hike and the little boy too. Thanks for the share. The 1311 IMHO is one of the best slicing choppers out there. I find it amazing how well it does it all. Just add a lanyard & sheath and a good swing and not much can stand in your way.
Oh, I like the idea of carrying a larger blade/tool than most others. I never really thought about it, but it is so true. I have seen a couple times where folks tried to fell a small tree or chop one that has already fallen but they were unsuccessful.
Before I knew about Busse, I used to always hike/camp with a Buck 119 and a pack axe. Then I upgraded to a ESEE 5 and thought that was the end all knife. Then I found out about Busse & ScrapYard. My camping/hiking world has changed. The first blade I got was a 1311. Talk about impressive. Funny thing is, it doesn't look like much. But it does it all pretty darn well and it is light and easy to pack. So cool you posted this.
I know you are a young man, but does she know, many years from now she will likely inherit the 1311? It is a heirloom!
Great pics and post, thanks for that!
I smiled on the first picture from all the conversations I've had with my kids about which stuffed animal they're going to bring on every trip.
Ah. The old bunny ears. I hope my daughter wants to do that kind of stuff with her old man in nine years.
Thanks for sharing, looks like you had a blast!
