I was emailing with Sasha and we decided to post some gear pics of what we will bring for an overnighter and share it with the good people here.

That's one pared down setup! Nice stuff. How long have you used the ultralight stuff? Has it held up well for you?

Thanks. Been using this same gear for about 6 years, it's just something that works for me. I should add that my back sucks so I try to keep things light. I like a simple clean easy to maintain camp too.

Do you plan to cook I did not see a pan or pot?

That gray pad looking thing is that you pad for lying down on the ground?
it is really short what your legs and keeping them on the ground or is that a issue. That red triangle thing is that your blanket that you were telling me about when we chatted on the phone a week or so back . do you just put it over you or is it some thing you can crawl into.
Your shoes they do not look very sturdy. Are thry really?

Just wondering.

I think the light wieight camping is neat and all but more info please:D:D

My hiking bag is 10 pounds and that is just for a day hike ( usually just a couple of hours LOL

great stuff Reuben... i'm sure you folks are going to have a blast, i wish i could be there....:)

Wow Reuben, that's lightweight! I thought mine was kind of lightweitght but your gear makes mine look heavy. I'll try to post some pictures tonight. I guess we aren't required bear cannisters in this area, right?

Reuben, do you use a stove, and if so, what kind? Or do you do the non-cooking thing, or (Horrors!) build a highly illegal fire to make your tea?

Nice setup Ruben. We need to talk bout UL gear soon. Im more and more leanin in that direction w/ my setup.

Have fun guys! I bet it is gonna be a hella good time.

I for got that right he does eat bugs LOL.
Grandpa, I was chatting with Reuben a week or so back and he and Gina were going tot go for a over nighter and the told me that he was going to have so granola bars and some other non cooking food since it was just a a over nighter. I was wonder too if he was going to take food but did not think about the cooking stove or a fire. Great question Grandpa.

Hey all. I will not be cooking for an overnighter or even a whole weekend. Simple, easy, and clean this way.

The grey pad is a torso size pad that covers your shoulders down to your lower back. Never been cold with it and they are meant for insulation more than comfort. It has about 5 years on it and it may be time soon for another one. It also serves as my pack frame.

Toothbrush- I use these little Braun Brush ups that go over your finger and have some tast built in. When they are done they fit neatly inside the flat little wrapper and go in the zip lock trash bag.

It is a crime not having cocoa, I am drinking it right now as I write.

No Ray we don't need a bear can. I like to bear bag mainly for the little rodents.

No just protien bars, jerky, and h20. If I had it my way it would be white rice and chicken all day all the time.

I'm bringing a Go Lite Gust pack, an old-style Tarptent, a Marmot Helium bag (overkill, but it's my lightest at 1 lb 13 oz.), a Western Mountaineering Flight Jacket (no fires this time of year), and cold food. A couple cold meals won't kill me. May also bring a UV water purifier.

Golite Gust pack is a nice one. Marmot only makes good stuff too. Is the Helium a 30 degree rating?
