Backpacking with the W&SS California gang

Bear,

The Helium is the 15 degree model (the Hydrogen is the 30-40 degree bag). I'll undoubtedly be draping it over me instead of getting inside on a warm summer evening but I don't have anything lighter.

I've used the Helium down to around 20 degrees under the Tarptent and it was comfortable. The most amazing thing is that it weighs 1 lb 13 oz. and is plenty roomy for a guy who is 6 ft. and about 225 lbs (on a skinny day).

Sasha: I believe they have changed Tarptent models quite a bit since I got mine from the original designer about 5-6 years ago. I've used it in some high winds and rain successfully. It once took approx. a 4 inch snow load---which is about its limit.

Fortunately, I think you have an infinitely more attractive snuggler than me!

Would work well for a distress signal.... wow that is bright.

If you are going to be packing in a hot region and really want to go ultralight, you should look at nunatak and RS 1+ quilt by golite...amazing stuff, 1/4th the weight.

If that girl was laying in my sleeping bag, I don't think I would be in distress.;)

Now if her and an equally beautiful brunette were in my sleeping bag.....maybe:D

This sounds like a great trip.
Please take plenty of pics of the Aus... I mean knives. I'm sure you will be your usual eloquent self when describing all of the equipment, detailing all tan, I mean hamon lines and patinas.:D
Nice gear and good people.

Nunatak is pretty light but I don't have a use for Down and the wait time and price is all to much. The quilt I make is good for 40 degrees and is synthetic. Best part is that it weighs 10 oz. ! I haven't seen the Golite but I want to check it out now.

How many of those RAT Cutlery lapel pins exist I wonder..
Which ones are you talking about.

Hey all. I will not be cooking for an overnighter or even a whole weekend.

No just protien bars, jerky, and h20. If I had it my way it would be white rice and chicken all day all the time.

No tea???? Dang!!! You're talking the raw edge of survival here!!!!

Otherwise, I can live with it! :D

So are you guys going to bring some gear in common so you all don't have to carry repetitious stuff or are you all bringing all individual gear.

(wish I could see the pics!);)

Yeah, I would think one knife for the group would be sufficient. We can just pass it around when needed....:D

Seriously, I think that we will have shared cooking and water purifying equipment. However, for a one-nighter I'm not too worried about duplication and a little extra weight.

By the way, I located one of the CS Master Hunters (Carbon V) and will bring it so you can try it. The blade is 4 1/2" overall---exactly in the middle of our two guesses.
