I'm seriously considering getting a large two-bladed Case folding hunter. Questions of steel aside, how are the back springs on these (compared to say, a sodbuster)?
If I understand your question right, you are asking about the durability of the back-springs.. My answer would be that they are very strong indeed. I had a well used two blade Case folding hunter from the 1940's-50's that still slams down hard and fast like a bear trap with no wobble that I sold to my brother a while back. He uses it all the time and loves it.
I've a 64-69 USA that still snaps like a trap, even though the blades are about shot. Got it for $10, planning on stripping it down to just the skinner.
