is the 2 3/4 blade length the length of the edge, or the blade from handle scales to tip?

That's a wonderful knife, Bill, and an outstanding price. Nice to know the plunge to tip is 2 3/4, but I'm thinking now that it's still a little small for me. Thanks so much for the prompt email response. I'll be keeping my eye out for a knife of your's in the 7.5-8" range. Gonna hurt to watch this one slip away.
