hey guys, a friend on another forum pointed out to me that i had an article in backwoodsman magazine, and how dare i not tell everyone? i sent it in...maybe in february, and forgot about it until he reminded me.

just thought i would let anyone interested know-its titled "more on minimalist survival" by Simon.

i wrote it basically to outline the principle of "the more you know, the less you carry" that is popular around these parts ;).

my pack is different now, and two of three knives i mention in the article aren't carried anymore, but the principle is the same.

so anyways, just thought i would let you all know.

ps,,,i haven't read any of the other articles yet, i'm saving them for the bus trip tomorow up into the adirondacks. can't wait to get up there.

thanks brian...

its pretty cool feeling, even though its a small article in a relatively small mag...though i noticed its growing since i picked up an issue a couple of years ago. lots more color.

Simon that is badass!! It might be a small rag, but its a great one with a pretty loyal following. Great accomplishment for a guy your age!

So, now that your a famous author, you need to start drinking really heavily while traveling around the world getting arrested in third world countries and big game hunting in second world ones.:)

Congrats.

Well done bro....as far as I'm concerned it's the best mag on the shelves right now !!!!

That is really neat, Simon!! I have a subscription as well; feels kind of cool to know someone, in a round about way, that has been "published" in it!! It is more popular than you think; at least it is with a mailperson at my post office I suspect keeps taking it mine from time to time... HA!

By the way, I hope you enjoy your trip; Godspeed!

thanks for the comments guys

pitdog; i don't read any mags really, so i will have to take your word for it...but i do know that backwoodsman is a good one regardless of relation to any of the others.

ejes, bummer about the postman...its funny how the community gets in here...i get to talking about a guy i know online...because i feel like i really do know alot of the folks here at least as well as half the people that i know in real life, its neat how the internet brings common folks together.

thanks brian...

Sort of goes with the mininalistic theme, don't you think? It wouldn't do to go on and on about keeping it light and simple. Great job, Siguy. I read that article when I got it and I liked it. I remember thinking "that guy makes some good points."

Had no idea it was yours.

Great job!!

I don't read it nearly as much as I should. This gives me a great excuse to get off my keester and pick up the latest copy.

I really think that Backwoodsman is a low circulation but heavily read mag. They carry it at nearly every Wal-mart and everytime I see it there, the few copies they have have fingerprints all over them and the pages are all dogeared. Somebody's reading them.

Either way, great exposure for ya. You've already accoplished one of my bucket list items at your ripe young age.....God i'm a loser.:D

That's awesome! Congrats!

Is it in the most current issue, that I could possibly find right now? I'm going to have to check Borders.

thanks for all the comments guys.

stingray, it is the most current issue. i found it in my local grocery last night.
