Another good series of books from last century (I think they are still available) are the Foxfire books, originally written and edited by Elliot Wiggington and his school classes from Appalachia. Lots of old time skills, lore, and interviews with mountain pioneers.[/url]

Excellent series. A great window into how things were once done, told by those who did them in their own words.
