Was supposed to be outside working on the yard, but the weathers been real nice today, and even though I couldn't get "out", sometimes the yard is enough, or all you can get. Threw a quick "fireplace" up a few weeks ago, burned my first fire last weekend. Need some more wood for tomorrow night, so, I was picking up drop wood from the yard and playing with my 9.
I thought about cleaning the rust off it, but, thought it would be mor fun to beat the rust off.
Love me some knife beatin' wood splittin'. Red Oak, from my "stove wood".
My "firepit" for this year. Ain't she purdy?
BK9 bites deep. One swing, not breaking my arm either.

My girls workin' on tha Range.
Splittin' some longer logs
This is how I secure wood, when I am making shavings. Get your minds out of the gutter.
Said shavings.
Chopping is fine and good and all, but using the baton log to cross cut wood this size or bigger, well, its just easier for me.
4 side spine strike, and break. Easiest and most efficient way I go about it. No worries of injury, or arm fatigue. 4 solid wacks, and you're done.
Just some shavings.
I'll probably finish this thread tomorrow, I called in on active kitchen duty, and had to stop there. I'll finish the fire tomorrow evening.

ETA, the micarta was from one of my BK77's. The S30V now rides some grivory. The BK9 may go back to grivory soon too, haven't decided yet.
