Quick question, moosez45: is that a firesteel notch where the thumb ramp used to be? Does it throw more sparks, or is it just easier to sharpen only the notch, and not the spine. A recessed notch is less likely to cut the thumb as well, I suppose. I like the look of your mods. I'm thinking of adding more jimping to the thumb notch instead of grinding it off, just as an experiment.

That notch, is the bottom jimp on the thumb ramp, it actually extends into the blade profile. I just ground off the notch, and left it at that. I did square the spine, so, it throws sparks like mad.
