Bad Alternate History: knife of the future

P.S. I vote that we should have no restrictions. Full autos even, and any bloody knife in the world.

And same with the restricted persons on firearm ownership. A felon decides to wreak havoc... there will be enough armed people to take him out. We need to re-emphasize the importance of responcibility. A true neighborhood watch.

Good replies...

but essentially I wanted to hear some feedback on what sort knives we might see if we have more restrictions placed upon us. Like I said, it's bad Alternate history (but hopefully not ours).

If more restrictive laws are coming down the pike, I'll fight them (yes, I sent off the form letter to congresspeople with embellishments), but I am sick of hearing the same old "I'll continue to carry my knives, to heck with the laws" bit. I don't see a lot of people pocket-carrying switchblades (sure, ok, I suppose some people do this), because it's not worth it to get busted for such a thing, when it comes down to it. People have families and kids and they end up obeying the law as best they can, and if the law says no assisted opening devices, I bet 99% won't carry them. What would be the point? Whip it out once in the wrong place and you've got trouble, it'll galvanize sheeple like a switchblade does.

So, in this alternate history, what do the knives look like? Seriously. Would friction folders be ok, or would fixed knives return in popularity- that sort of thing.

I would have to go back to my childhood and retrieve my rubber Tonto and Lone Ranger tomahawk and knife.

20 years, I think kitchen knives will still be a-okay in the states. We will still have one-hand openers too, but there may be some restrictions on borderline assisted openers.

Check out the thread in the "knife laws sub forum." Our senators have done good, Customs protection agency isnt going anywhere.

The switchblade definition has not been altered to affect one handers yet and they will likely be overturned. So no worries -our future is safe.
