Do you have bad days sometimes, when you can't seem to flip right? 8-)
I'm having one right now... I'm constantly dropping my bali, losing the grip, making the wrong moves... I'm a disaster !
If I had to show my skills to someone right now, they would think I got my bali yesterday!! It's very frustrating... I'm losing my temper...

Is it possible to lose your bali skills ? Like people can lose their kung-fu in hong-kong movies ?

*kick* *wham* "Ahahaha... I have now stolen your biting dragon kung-fu, when combined with my hopping monkey style, I will be invincible! Hahahaha!"

jeez, I hate those days.

It's like "ok, I'm going to do a Y2K roll-over, then a throw, then a reverse-catch". But what happens is that you catch too late on the Y2L roll-over and bali hits the floor. Or else you do the Y2K, then you throw and go to catch, only to have the bali fly backwards out of your grip.

or my favorite, the "do-the-most-awesome-sequence-of-manipulations-ever-then-drop-it-randomely-when-you're-done"

I have those days, where a basic opening is hard. A lot of the time its in the morning, when my hands are still stiff.

I stabbed my foot today, flipping away, nailing all my "hard" moves. I got up to get something to eat, had to cut my bagel in half, i do a latch drop, exectued perfectly(like they're hard...) and mysteriously dropped it from 3 feet up.

My foot is still bleeding:)

Live and learn...

Well im kinda having that day today. Although to day is A GREAT DAY because I just got my very first real bali. A BM42A (I know im late with the bm train.:) ) But it is now so hard to do anything simple because im not use to the weight of the bm. I am use to the weight of my jag, I've used it for 2yrs until the time when my bm came from the ups guy today. Though I would like to share and to see if anyone has gone through the same thing im going through today. If so is there any advice ? Thz ahead.

Brian
ps. its purple/pinkish  in the light but its cool:cool: .

Yup....I think everyone finds some days where for some reason fate degrees that it's just not a good day for flipping a balisong.Even those of us who have honed our skills for years still find those days...even if we've been practicing almost every day for months straight.Everything will be going great during that time...then all of a sudden we find a day where nothing wants to work right.

Luckily,I've never dropped the knife onto my foot or stabbed, sliced or diced myself on any of those days.

I don't think anybody is safe from these "off days". I used to get really angry when this happened, and the flippin' would just get worse. Nowadays, I just s l o w things down. I imagine it as recalibrating my muscles and mind. Whether this is what is happening or not, it seems to work. I look closely at my hands and try to be aware of of every muscle, tendon and bone. Within a half an hour, I'm doing much better, maybe not my best, but better. I just try to remember that these days will happen, and they will also pass.

Personally speaking,
If I dont focus on what Im doing even slightly, I get sloppy with my manipulations and screw up. If I get too slooppy but not enough for errors, it takes me a few days to get my technique and timing back.

Hey!

Know that feeling, one tries and tries and everything goes south, usually results in massive blood loss

But i've found that after one of those days (weeks) one is better :)

It's been a while since I've had a bad bali day, but just yesterday I was having a hell of a time trying to skateboard!!  I'll do it again today and hopefully I'll do better.:p
