Bad Business, Foolish Company

Lots of folks reading this one I see. Keep it civil my friends.

Icy, I think Jerry has been at it long enough to know what he is doing and it seems to be working for him. As for those who would "settle" for less rather than waiting for the quality we have come to expect, good all the more for the rest of us. Also, I don't think Jerry really gears his production to assist the secondary market. He does realize that there are some of us who buy during production runs to perhaps sell in the secondary to expand out personal collections. Don't think for a minute that the secondary market isn't tied to the primary. As for economics, I am just a dumb polack, but my money is on Jerry.

Yeah !!! What PorkGunner just said:thumbup:

Good? Bad? Jerry is the one with the grinder.

His Company, His call.

He might well need to cut back further while taking the time to be a Good Father and Husband.

If he only grinds when he feels like it chances are his knives will still sell well.

Pretty much is! Site should be up any time now.

You see fellas it goes something like this.

The Hogs buy the INFI.
The Piglets grumble because they "missed out".
The Hogs sell the pieces they can bear to part with (to support their habbit).
The Piglets quickly buy up the scraps of INFI the Hogs throw out.
The Piglets sell organs to pay for the huge mark up on the secondary market.
All is well. Works for me. ;)

You guys ever play "chop poker"?

I'm always amused when people start citing their economics courses on why Busse Combat won't last. They've probably been doing that for the last 20 years too.

Welcome to the addiction, Icy. You've probably guessed, it's a love-hate relationship. ;)

:D

It is amusing... but my favorite is when some ass-hat throws in the term... Blah, blah, blah... diminishing returns... blah, blah, blah... I hate that freakin' term... it's way overused and always by some ring-muscle-corn-holed-uber-pudwhacking sac-breath who runs with scissors, urinates in his own sandbox and has no friends.

icy27, Busse also makes a few knives for the military every now and then... them folks are kinda important right now...

As far as the secondary market goes... what do you think most of these guys are doing when they sell a bit-o-infi...? Yep, you guessed it, buying more infi! So much for that theory... Love it or hate it, they seem to know what they're doing and pretty much have the market cornered on bad-ass knives. Hey, be sure to check out Swamp Rat Knives too... maybe you can help them with their business plan...

I make no apologies for all of the smart-ass sarcasm above. Comments about how a private company does business, in their own backyard, just rubs my "stuff" the wrong damn way. Besides, how many knife makers have their own 1911 pistola? Huh?

Oh, and welcome to the forum, grab a knife or two, sit back and enjoy the show. It really is a good one - one of the most informative, friendly and down-right funny places on the net in my opinion. Check out the other manufacturers forums and see how many of the "owners" participate.

I don't believe you all are giving Mr. Icy the satisfaction he was looking for. ;):D

Hang in there, bro. Yeah, it's a helluva way to run a war, but I'll be damned if it hasn't captured my attention for the last six years or so. :)

I can't think of a company making sought after hand made items that isn't run kind of like Busse. Try and order a Richard Sach bicyle frame. I ordered one last year in hope of having it when I retire in three years.
Sach has been in business for 35 years!!!

Oh and congratulations to Amy.... will it be a little skunk or a hog?

Wha....I heard somebody was selling knives on this thread? Where's the go button? Anybody got any Aluminium handle AK-47s they want to turn loose? :D

What he said...

...oh, and don't forget that Jerry's roaming the country and hiding Hog Tags 150 days out of the year. Who has time to make knives?

That's a lie!!! He only does it 148 days a year. He's either too lazy or scared to bring one to AK to hide.:D :p That or he's trying to figure out how to get a tag around a grizzly for my finding:eek:

Skunk,

Sometimes I can't understand a drink you're sayin.

From what Gregg tells me, Boss Hog could hide one on every fish in Alaska and have nothing to worry about.
