I ordered a battle mistress and sent the required deposit a lonf time ago. The company called 10-13-99 and said the knife was ready. They took my credit card information and said the knife would be shipped immediately. I still haven't received it! I've called Busse (almost every day) and all I get is their answering machine. I leave a message each time, but have not heard from them yet. I also have written to them, called the local chamber of commerce and the BBB. Any other suggestion?

Or should I just consider my hard earned money lost and this just another life lesson learned???

The best thing to do is e-mail Busse. I believe the address is busse@bright.net I have had good sucess getting e-mail responses from them. In fact, they were supposed to ship my Battle Mistress yesterday. My confidence in that has just dropped a notch or two but I am withholding judgement until allowing for shipping time. Missed shipping dates seem to be a common problem still.

When you called, have you left the appropriate information (i.e. your name, when your card was charged, amount, what you ordered)?

Next time I talk to Jerry I'll ask about your knife though.

Yes, I give all appropriate information (name, phone # <both work and home #s>, e-mail, and why I am calling, etc.). Like I said, all I ever get to talk to is a machine. No one has bothered to call me back (I have an answering machine at home and at work the phone is answered 24 hours a day).

My knives were supposed to be shipped today. They probably weren't, but I have no doubt that they in fact will get here eventually. Busse has some customer service problems, no question, but from my experience these are honest folks who are struggling to keep up with the enormous demand, and Jerry's injury hasn't made things any easier. Absolutely do not write off your money or your knife. Demand [without getting too excited] satisfaction from Busse directly; I'm sure you'll get it.
It is a rare thing to get someone on the phone or a return call. It shouldn't be that way, but it has been that way for a long time. Your best bet is to contact Susan by email. Every email I've ever sent has been answered. Hang in there, you'll get satisfaction, I'm sure.
Now if only my own knives would arrive...

If you recieved a shipping date from Busse you were really lucky. I was told I would recieve my Badger Attack by October or sooner. Well ! I'm still waiting. Checked his web sights, and of course, no E-mail listing. I tried the one suggested by Steve6, but it goes to Bright.net, I couldn't access Busse from there. There are probably many of us in your boat. Yeah ! I've also tried calling them. I've waited 1 1/2 years for delivery on Randall knives, but at least they delivered on schedule. I don't mind a little longer lead time, but at least try to deliver on time, and if they can't they could at least send a E-mail or card to let us know they are aware of our order.

There are two versions of this thread currently open -- perhaps a moderator can merge them? (Or close the other, as it pre-dates this one, and link it here for interested readers?)

Also, perhaps Steve6 or someone else who has corresponded w/Busse can fwd this thread to the company's e-mail? (I'd do so, but it may not be received kindly or favorably by someone with whom they haven't corresponded in the past...)

I ordered a BM in April, knowing full well people said it took a year. The company charged my credit card the full amount that same month. I paid my credit card company, thinking that was just how Busse did it. I'm also waiting for a Basic 9.

In July, one of the little yellow postcards arrived at my house in the US saying the BM would be done in 16 or 18 weeks. But zip.

I have no problem paying or waiting for what are supposed to be the greatest knives folks have seen. But now that I have read some bad experiences with Busse on the forum, I am concerned.

There is a current wait right now on the Combat Basics due to lack of sheaths, AFAIK.

Gary, did Jerry ever get ahold of you?

Dave Robeson (? if spelled correctly), called and said my knife would be shipped on
Wed 11-24-99. I'll let you know when I receive it.

Gary,
My promised shipping date has come and gone, and now I don't even get responses to the email. How about you?

11-29-99. I got an e-mail this morning from Jerry stating the knife was mailed Tues 11-23-99. I'll let you know when it arrives.

Congratulations, Gary! I hope the knife is great and that you enjoy it. In hebrew there's an expression, "Teetchadesh", which roughly means may you have joy and satisfaction in your new possesssion.
Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for my knives, but the problem seems to be with the delivery or customs, not Busse. Susan has returned my email and offered to replace the knives if they don't turn up, so my original view of Busse has been confirmed: Good folks who reward patience with honesty and, I hope, superb knives.
