Bad damascus welds?

Hello all, hope the new year is treating y'all well.

As I was grinding a couple of chef's knives made from my damascus billets this morning, I noticed something I hadn't seen before. As I was progressing through the 120g and 240g belts, a few times there appeared small indentations at various parts of the blade. They looked like small dents or peen marks made from a hammer. I thought these may be bad welds in the middle of the billet, but as I continued to finish the grinding, they went away, without any chipping, or flaking that I'd expect if it were a bad weld.
Any idea on what these were?

Thanks

as always

Nearly impossible to say without pics. But it's probably some build up on the flat platen causing that. Weld flaws will not look like dents or peen marks. Will look more like thin 'black' lines & or spots.

Here's one that showed up at 400g on the grinder. Again, it looks like something hit it and dented it, not like something is flaking. I'll post a pic as I hand sand if it changes.

That is either a void or a flux bubble. Probably not enough pressing or a depression from grinding scale that trapped some flux. Always some chance. That looks like it will sand out. Good Luck
