I had a deal with JIM97972 that started in early February. He was to trade 2 of my Benchmades for his Infidel. I had sold a knife to him previously, so I felt pretty confident in cross shipping on a trade. After I shipped my 2 BM's on Feb 14th, he told me that he had discovered the Infidel was damaged and that the shop it was purchased from was sending it to BM for repair. After several weeks of nothing, he agreed to simply pay me for the knives. I never received money. About two weeks ago, he said the Infidel was at home waiting for shipment, and he would send it as soon as he got home from his business trip. I haven't heard form him since.

In the last several weeks, he has bought and paid for knives here and on another forum, but his communication has been inconsistent at best with me. I'm really pissed off about this. I have given him chance after chance, and he has blown me off every time. I even offered to have him send the knives back to me, if he didn't have the money or the Infidel.

I am posting this here in the hopes it will get his attention and spur him to action.
 
Have you had e-mail or telephonic contact with him since he went on his business trip? Did he say how long he'd be gone? Has he been on here since the start of the trip? Have you ever asked him to just send your knife back to you?

Just thinking out loud here...things people might wonder about initially.
 
He has not contacted me since returning from his trip. He was supposed to have returned from his business trip on Thursday the 19th. He contacted me while on his trip.

The last email I sent which he responded to was the one telling me he would ship the Infidel after he returned. In that email to him, I had asked that he either send my knives back, send the money, or send the Infidel.
 
JIM97972 is on Bladeforums right now. I sent him a PM, so hopefully he will respond to the issues raised by the original poster.
 
jim97972 has checked out this thread, but has not left a comment. With any luck he is now contacting mobiuscorpus privately so that this can all be worked out.
 
30 posts since he joined (01-25-2007) and 29 are in the "Exchange" forum. I avoid members with such posting history.

As I told you I will ship the knife as soon as I can. Things have come up beyond my control at this point.

Something more concrete, than "as soon as I can," generally goes further in fixing the problem. In fact, keeping the communication channel open. . . .almost always prevents problems from developing. It doesn't look good when you're posting on several forums and the OP is left hanging. ;)

That will work. In the future, please try to be a little more communicative. It does not produce good will when someone doesn't respond for weeks at a time to calls and emails.
 
As an update: Two months later, I finally received the last of the money owed to me by James. He was virtually non-communicative the entire time, and it wasn't until I threatened him with immediate police action this past week that he finally came through. I feel he is a cheat and a rat, and would urge everyone to stay away from him.

Apparently the threats of legal action worked. Today I received Paypal for the remaining amount. I will not file charges since I did finally receive payment. As much as I'd like to, I doubt the police could do anything, since I did finally get my money.

James, if you read this, I think you are a scumbag. I hope many people hear about my experience with you. Even though I consider the matter legally resolved, I am NOT satisfied. If I find you on any forums, I will not hesitate to post my experiences in the hopes that people will steer clear of you.
