I bought a knife thru Ebay Seller seanj560 / Sean Jones. I paid immediately with paypal via their buy-it-now option.

9 days later I had to ask for communication. He sent it via airborne 2-day.

I had purchased a Strider SA, he sent me an MFS, a very different design and worth 20% less than the SA.

He offered to refund "next friday when he got paid." That was also the date at which a paypal cuts off my ability to dispute the transaction.

I filed a dispute after several more days of no comms from Sean Jones, and filed a claim with paypal.

Today I received my refund from paypal, as Mr. Jones did not respond to this matter.

Paypal came thru for me, though I am unhappy the transaction is now marked "partially paid thru paypal." I'm going to see about rectifying this.

Stay away from this jamoke, buy nothing from him, he lies like a sack. I'm quite confident he was willing to send out the wrong knife and play this out until I had no recourse.

For once paypal did what you would expect them to do. You have used up your luck for the year with paypal. Love the "pay you Friday for a cheese burger today" reply, by the way.

Yeah, it was a pretty classic response on his part.

The transaction insurance was for $200, same as the buy price. I've been thinking about putting a few knives up at Ebay instead of here, since it seems like it would be easier to sell half a dozen there, but this transaction soured me off ebay somewhat.

My old theory holds true - don't spend money on toys I could not afford to simply throw away instead - if I lost the $200 and could not recover it, it would not have hurt me, but would have pissed me off entirely. As it is, it's a healthy reminder about having as many protections in place as possible when dealing on the net.
