My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.......Steven

Very sad to hear that Nick, but remember that no matter how irreplacable any treasured personal possesion may be, they are nothing compared to your loved ones. Your folks are okay and that is all that matters.

Sad to hear this and hope for the best Nick.I watched my brother pick thru the ruins of his burned down home 30 years ago, and remember the hurt and sadness in his eyes to this day.Thankfully no on was hurt, but that is still a tough pill to swallow.

Hi folks! :)

First of all, thank you so much for the well wishes, good thoughts, and prayers... they'll take any and all of that! :)

Second, please do NOT send any money.

My folks are fine, they were not hurt at all physically. Fortunately, my Grandma lives 3 houses away, so my mom and dad are staying there, safe and sound. I offered for them to stay at my house, but it's a lot further from Dad's job than Grandma's home is. Mom ran a day-care for over 20 years, and because of that they have 2 freezers and an extra fridge (all full of food). We hauled all of those to my Grandma's back porch. So they have a roof over their head, and food in the bellies. They have had several meetings with insurance people, and their house will be gutted and completely redone inside.

Our entire family is feeling EXTREMELY FORTUNATE that they got out of the house alive and without burns. We have seen several stories in the paper about families that lost at least one loved one. We are counting our blessings.

I have my shop almost entirely moved, so other than losing a lot of shop time to try and help them out... this has not been a major issue for my knifemaking.

It has, however, really thrown a wrench in my communication. The time that I have been online in that last several months, was using their pc.... which is now toast. I'm currently using a fancy laptop with some fancy magical internet connection that is my Microsoft employed b-i-l's.... He's gotta go back to Seattle... so I won't be back online for quite awhile.

Thank you all very much for your concern, it is VERY MUCH APPRECIATED :) :) :)

Great news, Nick - Glad to hear everyone is OK.
Prayers will continue to be offered especially for patience dealing with the insurance company.
Life has a way trying to hold us back when times are good but fortitude and faith keeps us strong.

Keep on, keeping on - blessings for the new year!

Amen to that. Sorry we won't have in the virtual community with us as much for the next while - look into some cheap second-hand 'puters, they're out there.
