New into knives but I recently purchased a Ontario sp8 in knowing their not the best on quailty control. The sp8 i received has a uneven secondary bevel it effects the primary bevel. Should i return it? Is it that big of a issue?
Do they replace knives with this uneven grind?
If you want a collectors grade piece, that would not be it. I don't think that would have any effect on the performance or intended use. They build knives at a specific price point to be used and basically used a lot, not heirloom quality stuff. Just my opinion though.
I've owned several Ontario's over the years and I dont think a single one of them had a perfectly ground blade. But for the price they're hard to beat. They perform way ahead of their price range. They probably would replace it if you sent it in just to keep a customer happy but if you're just going to use it then perfect grinds really don't matter. I say save yourself the cost of shipping. Keep it and use it.
