I feel it's BS and the knife is misused big time...

What do you guys make of this?

...Other than that it's just another yahoo on YouTube, I really don't make anything of it.

Yahoos on YouTube are a dime a dozen.

I honestly think she has unrealistic expectations. But lets be honest if you are in a survival situation there is nothing that says you want do cosmetic damage to knife. And knives still functionmwith cosmetic damage. And i dont know of any knife handle that you can smack on a rock and have it come out unscathed.

Two threads on the same wacky review

Not the knife I would have chosen to do what she did but I likely wouldn't have treated any knife like she did. It is not a great survival situation review if you choose the wrong tool and do dumb stuff with it.

Other than that... The internet is crazy man!

I liked the review. She was honest about where she was abusing the knife. That edge came out much worse than I thought it should have.

What I like about the S1 is its size, design and geometry. What I don't like is the rubber handle, the plastic sheath and the VG-10 steel (for a survival-type knife). Those are the things she didn't like and that she easily damaged.

In the end, it was nice to see what the knife could and could not handle. In normal use, the S1 is a great knife.

I've heard that she works for a competitor, I found this bit of info also that I copied.

Fällkniven knives are tested for breaking strength by the Division of Solid Mechanics at Luleå University of Technology, and they publish the results on their website. This is a good thing. In addition to breaking data, Fallkniven provides on their website the rationale for the testing and the methods used. By doing this, they eliminate much of the guesswork that goes into evaluating their knives, and establish a standard of reliability. I know of no other company that has their knives tested by an independent scientific organization, and publishes the results. Mr. Hjortberger says they build the strongest stainless steel knives in the world. I don’t doubt him.

No surprise in her review. The steel will micro chip and rubber vs rock usually goes the same way. Still a nice knife.

She specifically said the knife never touched rock and still chipped on wood alone...

This company's Kraton handled series have been known, nay famous, for chipping their edges with astonishing ease for years now, and people keep being surprised that the same things keep happening to the same knives... I suspect the more expensive leather handled series is luckier because it is babied more...

The Kraton handle design is, as she points out, a joke. Additionally to bad design, there is only a wafer-thin Kraton layer on top of the guard and in other areas where you expect high forces... My CS Oyabun also has a thin Kraton handle, but it feels great and is nowhere near as badly designed... The S1 edge also seemed thick and not that sharp to me when I handled it, robbing it of any lateral flex, thus concentrating forces on the apex.

She miss used the knife she also knows nothing about edge geometry. She removed the convex grind, made the edge to fragile and destroyed it. Also thats not to be used with a bow drill.

does not matter who is reviewing. With a rubber handle and laminated vg-10 blade, at $160 the knife is way overpriced.

i dont know about it being a bad review. its a review. she did what she did to it. it basically survived, not pretty but not much would be under the same tasks.

she obviously needs a cold steel, strongest sharpest knife, or something to that effect.:)

Misuse of a big name knife + controversy = happy youtuber that attract attention.

Don't even bother watching this.

If I get stranded for 10 years on a desert island, and I had to chose between my A1 and that chick... I'll definitely favor the thick swede :p

Wow! More info please!

She really thinned the edge out?! That would explain the crazy damage...

LOL! :D

If you use a fallkniven s1 like a cold chisel and baton it with rocks don't expect great performance.

If you use your knife to actually cut things and hold a good cutting edge then using a cold chisel disguised as a knife won't cut it.
