This is my first post and really don't like to make it a bad one but I feel this deserves attention to my Fellow Forum Members.

I recently purchased a knife from a Forum Member AKA "robert912" AKA "sidekick777". He advertised it as a Phil Hartsfield "Strong Boy with a 3/16" thick Blade.

Here is the Thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=260389&highlight=hartsfield

No Yitz was not able to do the payments so robert912 offered it to me.

When I received the knife, it was a Kwaiken with standard 1/8" thick blade.

FYI...Strong boys are 1/4" thick...Kwaikens are 1/8" thick.

I responded back to robert912 stating that this was a Kwaiken and NOT a Stronboy and requested a refund. His response was:

"I don’t feel it was misrepresented. I sell more than 100 custom knives a year and without any problems. I never deal with refunds. If you would like me to help you resell it...that’s a different matter."

Kinda scary. 100 custom knives a year.

I have had great experiences with purchasing knives from Forum members as sniperboy, Ren the Devils, Voodoosan,Recluse and many more.

PASSING A KNIFE FOR SOMETHING IT NOT, SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED ON THIS FORUM. THIS JUST PUTS A BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH.

Just like to warn everybody to stay away from this guy.

robert912 or sidekick777 Like to know what you got to say for your self. I will be emailing you this Thread : r_s_school@msn.com

robert912 if this is correct then you had best make this right and return DESTIJL4's money. This looks to be cut and dry and will not be tolerated. This comment "I don’t feel it was misrepresented. I sell more than 100 custom knives a year and without any problems. I never deal with refunds. If you would like me to help you resell it...that’s a different matter." is a pile of crap. We don't help people resell a knife that was bogus from the start,WE refund the money then post it as an honest thread. You can bet you wont be around this forum long if you dont fix this ASAP.

What a bunch of crap!!! If this guy sells 100 customs a year he would know the value of correct labeling and refund your money ASAP.

This is yet again another reason to be very careful dealing with Newbies.

I hope this resolves, a deal should never be a deal until both parties are happy. Furthermore, if he does sell knives he knows what an inspection period is!!!

Maybe contacting the Postal Inspectors would help?

Is he using TWO different screen names?????????

Who is Sidekick???

HUGE RED FLAG WAIVING!!!!

While maybe not intentional. . .it's still misrepresentation.

Even honest mistakes require a refund.

And how many knives ones sells in a year has no play in the matter. I would think that if someone sells 100(+/-) knives a year would know his/her bladeware a little better ! :(

As "sidekick777" he made all of 4 posts. His last, under that name, was on 12-08-2002 as a "basic member."

As "robert912" he's made 1 post (the sale of the questionable knife). That was made on 06-12-2003 as a "Gold member."

And wolfmann601 is right. . ."HUGE RED FLAG WAIVING !!!!"

Where ya at robert912 or sidekick777 ?

Keep us posted DESTIJL4.

Hey Wolfmann,
No response back from robert912 or sidelick. I don't think this was an honest mistake. This was deliberate with intent.

Ill vouch for DESTILJ4...I dealt with him even though he was (is) a newbie..his money was good, fast, and we did several deals so I would trust what he says as true..he is on my good guy list..

I had some great dealings with Destijl4 -- he's a goodfellow in my book -- not that you guys needed that, but just tossing in my two cents.

Dest -- I hope everything turns out alright for you.

Lets see, guy sells me a Rolex Seadweller and it arrives and its a Submariner, hmmmmm, thats a tough one, and i dont care one bit how many watches he sells each year. Since here on BF, most of us, the HONEST ones will take a knife back if it doesnt match the buyer's wife's new living room drapes, let alone if it was completely misrepresented, intentional or not, this guy is definitely not someone anybody should be buying from. Most of us will take a knife back for ANY reason, and its only those people i will deal with since i will take back any knife i sell or trade if the buyer is unhappy with it for ANY reason, its not my job nor do i have the ability to crawl inside his mind and decide if he is returning it for a "good" reason. After all, if the knife is a good knife and you describe it accurately and offer it at a fair price, someone else will buy it and youre not out anything, except some shipping.

Shoot me an E-mail with all the pertinent info [name/address]. It WOOD [LOL] be my supreme honor to see "what's up" with this guy and assist you if I can............

This guy is no where to be found.

I would also like to inform fellow forum members that Robert Summer AKA robert912 or sidekick777 is trying to sell another Phil Hartsfield Strongboy with a supposedly hamon (temper line) on the blade. He offered me this knife as a one of a kind Phil Hartsfield Strong Boy.

Destij,
Is this guy in California?? If so, let me know and I'll "drop by" and see if I can persuade him to do right. Also, how did you send payment? If you went through the US Mail, you're in luck, place a call to the consumer complaint division of the US Postal Service and mention the words "Felony Mail Fraud", it worked/is working for me when I got screwed by a knife maker. If the $ amount was over $400.00, it's a felony, if it went through the mail, it's felony mail fraud. Another thing, how many Hartsfield's knives does this guy own? They are not cheap, maybe Phil himself knows the guy, I know I have spoken to every maker of every custom knife I have ever owned, that's half the fun!

Best thing, persistence, be the proverbial "thorn in his side", know the laws and what your limits are, keep your head, STAY AFTER HIM, it'll work out, you have a great bunch of guys here ready to help out, good luck, keep us posted.

Hey Ira, forget the 2x4's- I know where they store the old phone poles around here after the linesmen mess 'em up w/ their spikes or when they snap off all jagged & nasty from car crashes. I'll pick one w/ a fresh coat of creosote. This guy needs one bad.

Works for me!;)

Hey DestiJl4, just curious; Did this mook ever send you a pic of the knife before you bought it? If he did send you a pic of a Stronboy, and sent you a Kwaiken, you've more ammo in your legal arsenal when it comes time to nail him to the cross!
