Bad TDI clip?

I got my TDI clip for my Becker Necker and needless to say. I was VERY unhappy with it. I got it new from a person off ebay. It came in a very dirty bad and the clip had a ton of rust on it. I got most of it off but there are parts of it where it is really messed up. Also the clip itself is really loose. The clip part don't even touch the metal. I havn't worn it at all yet but this is a picture of it on the BK11 sheath

Dude, it's probably been used. A lot. I doubt it's Ka-Bar's fault. If you want to guarantee that you get what you pay for, take eje's advice and buy from Tomar's.

Are you sure the seller is reliable?
 
Sellers never lie about the condition or history of the products that they sell.

They do. You were taken by a dishonest second (or third) party. I am relatively certain that clip was not "new". Sorry.

Regardless, the Ebay rating is highly subjective. It should be correlated directly and proportionally with the number of deals they've closed if you don't want this to happen. I always look very carefully at both before I consider a purchase. There are reputable sellers and good deals on Ebay, but you have to know what you are doing and it is my suggestion that you not trust others with your shopping there. Fortunately, it was a relatively small expense to learn that with.

looks like the picture in the listing shows a perfect clip... which is not what you got, so your beef is likely with the seller, ask for a return/full-refund or exchange at their cost (maybe?), else challenge ePray to make it right.

I'd say your problem is the ebay seller or your friend. Is there any chance you can take a pic with better lighting and from the POV of the seller's pic? There might be a reason he only took a pic from the top...

I got the TDI clip for my BK11 from New Graham and it came in perfect condition. I'm not saying it didn't get missed in QC, but the whole "I got it from a friend who got it from ebay" makes me question placing the blame on KA-BAR.

This is one of the reasons to order from a good company like NGK rather than ebay. I once got a Benchmade from NGK I wasnt happy with so I called them up. The man I spoke with listened to me, never interrupted me once, and said "Send it back with a letter on what you want us to do and we'll do it". Could it get any easier?

Well it appears that the clip did come in a new baggie, with all new stuff I guess that I thought the clip would make contact with the bottom. I still think it will function right.
 
also, i noticed the ebay listing says "made in china" while kabar's website says "made in taiwan". dunno if that means anything.

all in all though, it's metal right? you can bend to fit?

I tryed that but it stays unbent, I think this one may have just gotten a little messed up at the factory, not a huge deal.

Well I got mine off eBay too and the clip doesn't look too much different than yours so I'm not sure if we both have a bad one or not.

My biggest beef with the clip was that it takes forever before all the oxidized black paint stops rubbing on everything it touches.

I actually washed mine with soapy water before I installed in on the sheath and even after that, if I hold it firmly like re-wrapping my BK-11 tonight, I still got black smudged fingers. This is going on a month now.

It washes off but it's a little annoying since your clothes do touch the clip while carrying.

I think that may have been the "rust" I was feeling.
 
All very strange. I've ordered several from Tomar's and have never gotten any that were questionable. Makes me wonder if your vendor didn't get some knock off's or something.

I just got back from Taiwan. The whole Taiwan/China thing is very tumultuous and it bleeds into business. Taiwan feels like it is independent and China claims Taiwan is still part of China. Since they are very close geographically, sometimes you get products made in both places and the oversees customer is duped. Taiwan generally makes a better product, but sometimes some unscrupulous people on Taiwan will have products that they are supposed to be making in Taiwan made in China to save money and make an extra buck thinking the customer won't know the difference.

Tomar also has an Ebay storefront, but is not selling the clips there for some reason as far as I can tell.

I too ordered one from Ebay and hard the same experience clip seemed a bit bent and all the black crap got all over my hands and was a pain to get off. I still use EDC on my TDI but was slightly disappointed.
 
I ordered on from tomars and I had similar issues. The clip was bent in certain places that it should not have been and it was completely covered with the black oxidization, very annoying. I am not happy with it at all. It actually came with the small TDI knife, not worth sending it back though. Oh well, live and learn.
