Made a trade with someone who has been a member for over a year. Was told he shipped by UPS this past Monday & gave me the tracking #. He is
in Louisiana & I am in Texas about 2 days by UPS. Yesterday (Thurs.) I
thought the pkg. should have been here. I tracked the pkg. & could find
nothing out. I called UPS & the Lady said it looked to her like somebody
created the label on line but never did ship the pkg. I have e-mailed this
member several times & he has been logged in most every time I have e-
mailed him. So no doubt his computer is working & none of the e-mails have
been kicked back to me. I have had no trouble sending & receiving from
others. When we made the trade a whole lot of e-mails were exchanged.
I told him about 45 minutes ago I was going to post this & he was logged
in at the time. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt, why I don't
know, and see if he contacts me after seeing this. If I don't hear anything,
I will post his user name & maybe his name and address.

I think you gave that person enough time to explain their situation. Go ahead and post now so we can all be warned of who this culpret is. Maybe he'll see the post and realize that something honest needs to be done.

Who is this member who seems to be forgetting that his word is his bond?

Maybe it's just a mix-up, I hope so. It's sad to see another member of BFC destroy his integrity and credibility over a knife.

Here if you are down and out and really need a knife I am certain someone will give you one, there is no need to steal here, ever!!

I hope it shows, you are too good of a good guy to get stiffed.........

Nice of you to try and give this person an out but it may be time to bring the GB&U  hammer down :grumpy: if s/he can't take a hint. Hope it resolves itself though and no one's the worse for wear.

Agreed on all points. Stuff does happen. shipping can be a tricky thing sometimes (my life a as a construction manager revolves around it:mad:) but all that is needed here is communication. I missed a few deadlines shipping (personal knives) and contacted the buyer ASAP. Communication can alleviate most of the problems.

it is entirely possible that ups gave you bad info. been known to happen.

however, there is no excuse for failing to answer your numerous emails/requests. especially when they are logged on here.

BINGO..... Morimotom (whom I have had the pleasure if dealing with) hit the nail on the head.

Stuff happens, COMMUNICATE.

I have learned more & I really don't want to give out the user name but
feel I have no choice, simply because he will not contact me. When I made the post this morning he was on here & he is on here right now.
First with what I have learned. I was told by "redsst" that he shipped the box from a UPS store. I never thought of it when I first started checking
into this, but it dawned on me maybe UPS could tell me from the tracking
number if it did originate from a UPS store or somebody on line. Sure enough
they were able to give me the store name & phone #. I talked to the man
there & he said the box did come in there & it was addressed to me. He
figured somehow the box got put in with a bunch of other boxes going to
some far away place & had not been scanned again since leaving his store.
Doesn't make since to me but maybe so. Anyway when I check the tracking
number now it shows "exception". They are tracing it & will take 8 days.
Extra insurance was purchased but if I can't get "redsst" to contact me
I'm not sure what good it will do because I'm sure UPS will have to settle
with him & not me. So maybe this will all turn out OK if UPS finds the
box & reroutes it to me. But it would be nice if "redsst" would e-mail
me or call my phone # which I have left with him more than once.

I hope it works out and you get your knife, but his failure to communicate should be kept in mind by folks in future dealings.

At least the tracking # is giving you something and UPS has info on the package. Having something listed as "exception" can mean a number of things, from delivery attempted but not made, reroute requested, RTS requested, tracer, etc. Have they confirmed with you that the address given on the label is your correct address? If it has the right address then there shouldn't be any need to request a reroute, they just have to get it to the right place, which is what they're being paid to do from the start.

The explanation from the UPS store guy does seem odd to me also. Perhaps it's legit, perhaps it's him covering up some kind of an error on his end. Sometimes a package will go longer than it should without a scan, but where you said it was going from LA to TX it seems like there should not be much lapse in terms of time for scans and transit.

None of this would really excuse the lack of communication from the other party given that you've seen him online and your emails aren't getting bounced. I hope your package arrives safely.

We ship quite a few packages every day at work. Usually get
1 "exception" a month. Average maybe.
This is exactly what the UPS guy told you. "It got on the wrong bus"
It is just mixed up and went on the wrong route.
If it was going from LA to TX then it would hit Dallas or San Antonio
after leaving LA. We receive packages monthly from Baton Rouge
and they ship directly to San Antonio then to our local center.
Might take 2-4 days to get back on track after doing so too.

But yes, communication breakdown with the person you're dealing with
can leave that bad taste.

Hope all works out.

I know Bob (RRG) well and if he says he's been wronged i believe it...Bob is very tolerant!!

Bob's only fault maybe that at times he ships product to fast (very trusting)

Just my 2 pennie's.

I Hope this all works out for you Bob, keep us in the loop. Bob is a fantastic guy, who is very fair, I have traed with him numerous times face to face, when I lived in TX. If he is worried, than the deal isn't going very good.

RRG is good people.

RRG is VERY good people. I just got off the phone with him. I currently have no idea what happened with UPS, but I WILL find out. The package was shipped on November 3rd. It was insured and I received a tracking number.
The email address that I used to communicate with RRG is my personal email address that I rarely check. I mainly use my work email. In addition, I have never been able to send or receive PM's on bladeforums. Therefore, until Cougar Allen posted in a thread I was reading directing me to this one, I had no idea that there was a problem with the trade. Needless-to-say, I was horrified to read about what had happened since I left the UPS store that Saturday afternoon. UPS is currently trying to track down the package. It was insured, however, RRG says that it may be difficult to get UPS to reimburse me if the package is indeed lost.
Anyway, I totally dropped the ball on this one. It was MY responsibility to make sure that the package was delivered and I didn't. I haven't checked that email address till today and there is no excuse for that either.
All that being said, I will make this right one way or another. Whether UPS finally delivers or they reimburse me and I forward it to RRG or I pay RRG the cost of the knife out of my pocket...this WILL be fixed.

As I posted in this very forum before, RRG is a pleasure to deal with. I have never had ANY transaction (personal or business) go as perfectly as mine with RRG did. The shipping was unbelievably fast. He is one hell of a trader and a gentleman. I can not apologize enough for all the trouble I have caused him. I dropped the ball on this one and I will make it right.

I received a call from "redsst" about 30 minutes ago & after listening to his
story I believe this will all work out. I don't look for the knives to show up
but do think after the insurance is paid it will end up just fine. He did tell
me that he took the knives into the UPS store loose & asked the clerk to
box them up. Think in the future I'd be sure they were boxed before I took
them in.

Insurance paid off on this & UPS sent "redsst" a check & he in turn sent pyt.
to me for the lost knives. This one worked out & I would trade with redsst
again with no second thoughts.

alls well that ends well, glad it worked out, best to ya and merry x-mas/hope to see ya at the gun show,

greg
