Bader III discount?

I've pretty much decided to buy a variable speed Bader III. Can anyone advise me where I am likely to get the best price? Are there discounts on Baders at knife shows? (I'll be at the Blade show in Atlanta in June.)

Thanks in advance for any input.

Carl

As far as I know, there are no suppliers that discount Bader products. The prices that the supply houses charge are the same as they are if you buy directly from Bader. I believe the only ones who get a small discount are the supply houses themselves. Then Bader sets the price that they will sell for. If you are going to buy one, I would suggest buying directly from Bader, they are great people and will help you out with anything you need.

Bader will also shi[p your machine unassembled, in UPS sized boxes, so you avoud freight expenses.

I bought mine from Jantz supply. They shipped it direct from bader with no shipping charge and at the time they had the best price. A little warning about the folks at Bader if you must talk to them they are pretty rough, but the machine is great. My 2pennies

Bring cash to the Blade Show, talk to folks at the Bader table, work up a "package" of all the stuff you want to get. They will work up a deal I think you'll be happy with (it saved me a couple of hundred bucks). :-)

Also, if you are sure you are going get one at the show (it saves ALL the shipping costs!), call Bader up a week or so before and tell them to bring you one to the show - this way there will be one with your name on it, and you won't have to worry if they will have one available. Their phone numbers are...

Scott,

Can you please explain what you meant by the people at Bader " are pretty rough"? I have never heard of anyone having anything but praise for Doug,Dan and the rest of the guy's there, so I would be interested in why you say this.

i agree with jailhack, doug and dan are nice guys to deal with. i bought 3 custom wheels from them, and they shipped them out as soon as they made them.

I have never met ANYONE in my 20+ years in knifemaking who were nicer, more honest or more helpful than the folks at Stephen Bader Company. I buy All my grinders, accessories, sanding belts, replacement electrical parts, etc. from them. They have bailed me out of jams on many occasions.
Once, about 10 years ago, I got laid off. I was ordering belts from Bader, and, mentioned to Dan Johnson that I was temporarily unemployed. Without even asking how my financial situation was, he said "Don't worry about the bill-you just pay me when you can. I know it's tough to be laid off"
Now, that's a guy I'll do business with forever!!!!!!!!
Note: Please don't interpret this as a free ride on your next Bader invoice!!!!!!!!

Their machines will do anything you are talented enough to do, and, they offer far and away the best VALUE for the buck of any machine available. Team this up with their customer service, well, you get the point.....

If they are ever even a bit "off", it's because they are swamped with work filling orders, which is where we all want to be!

I agree with RJ. The guys at Bader are a great bunch to deal with. They know their stuff and their advice is always appreciated.

Plan on meeting the Bader guys at the Blade show. Bought mine there last year directly from Bader. They're great people to work with and I counldn't beat the final price ANYWHERE (and I called everyone prior to buying directly).

You might even want to call them ahead to make sure they have an extra machine or two with them. I've talked to several people who plan to stop at the Bader table this year.

What RJ says. I got my BIII directly from Bader because they had the best price. I spent a lot of time on the phone with the guys at Bader, through several calls, and they patiently answered all of my questions and really knew the product. They even made some recommendations that I had not considered due to their vast experience with other knifemakers. I have since purchase additional accessories and parts with the same quality of customer service. I have nothing but rave reviews for the Stephen Bader Company.

Scott Jones,

Once again I ask you if you would please expound on the comment of "pretty rough". I am very interested in what occured as I'm sure that others here are too. Please do not take any offense to this but you made the statement.

I'm sure its been asked before but........ Does Bader have a web site and if so what is it? If not what is the telephone contact number? Mahalo!

I had a problem getting my bader when they said it had shipped it did not and I had to wait as I recall over three weeks to get it and was told it was shipped twice and it had not.

I am totally pleased with the machine, I think it is great. Possibly I caught them at a busy time and they had there wires crossed at the time. I did not intend to discourage anyone from buying their machine. I was getting impatient when I recieved my mastercard bill from Jantz before I had the machine from Bader, Having been told it was on the way when it was not several times. In the end I got the machine and am happy.

I am probably guilty of not having the ability to express my thoughts in print as well as I should. My whole intent was to really prepare anyone buying a Bader to be patient because it was worth every penny I paid for it and I recomend it to anyone that ask.

Thanks for filling us in on your problem. I don't know what happened as they are generally VERY competent. I have ordered stuff from them and had it the next day via UPS.
