Hello everyone. Its been a while since I have posted anything. I just usually log on and keep quiet.

I have a question about some Bader 3 grinders I have been researching and looking to buy. I have found two that sound the same but are at a very different price on two site.
Texas Knife Supply - Item ID# BADVS2
Jantz - Item# BM104

Now these two sound exactly alike to me. I sent both companies a question but haven't received an answer. I just sent it a couple hours ago so I will give them time to answer. I would just like to see if anyone here had any info on one or both of these items.

Thank You!

Hey Frank, glad to see you back. I checked into those BIIIs a while back and they're good grinders. Honestly though, for just a bit more you can get a TW-90 that comes with a flat platen, 8 inch wheel, small wheel attachement, 2hp leeson motor with VFD, all stock. IT flips horizontal, and for a bit more has a surface grinding attachment. It's essentially 3 machines in one! Tracking is rock solid, and tool changes are almost instantaneous. I'm not trying to sell you, per se, but I saw one of these in action last week, and I'm convinced after that that it's the best grinder out there for what you get.

3400-2300
1100 difference

and the SG attachment is over 1000

I agree it's worth looking at, but I wouldn't call 1$K+ "a bit"

They sure look the same to me. I checked some other sites too, there is a wide range of price out there on this grinder but Jantz is the best I was able to find.

Couple of things to check.
1) One vendor appears to be quoting you a price with the variable speed motor and the other vendor may be quoting you the price with a fixed speed motor.
2) The photos are also not the same. One of the machines appears to have a belt tensioner at rear and the other does not, but the photos may not accurately portray what they are selling

A happy owner of the John LeBlanc grinder (I understand it is no longer made by John and is call the JL Grinder)

Thanks for the feedback guys! They look like the same exact machines to me. If I dont hear back from them , I will just give them a call and ask for a model number or something.
On Dec 20th 2012 my house was burglarized and they took everything of value. I have replaced the items stolen from my wife and kids and now am trying to replace my shop equipment that was taken as well. The insurance didnt cover 100% so I have to try an get the most out of the money they gave me. I still need to replace my oven, dewar, drill press, shopvac, metal bandsaw, compressors, bubble jig, face masks, etc.... I wont be able to replace it all, but a grinder is a must right now. I really like the Wuertz grinder myself, but I have alot of blades I need to finish and ship out so I need to get back up an running asap.

I've been running my BIII flat out for well over a decade. Can't make a decent knife without one.
Just order it from the place that can get it to you the soonest.
Every day you're not making knives you're losing money.

Wow Pancho , what a bummer . Did they take the dog ?

Were you not robbed a couple years ago also ? I remember something about a storage trailer out front .

I had my car broke into a couple years ago. This time they did a number on me. The dog is still there. That guy probably slept through the whole thing. hehehe..

I feel for you Bro I lost my shop to a fire last summer, it is a tuff to lose everthing you have worked for. Did you have insurance?

Brett

Brett I did have insurance and it is helping with a percentage only. Its enough to help me rebuild my shop items lost.

Frank that is a blessing that your are covered. I was too but Allstate paid about half before denning the the rest of claim the stating that my shop was way more then a hobbies shop and I should if had a commercial policy. The shop is rebuilt but I would kill to have my old shop back it just wont be the same.

Good luck on refitting your shop

Brett.

Thanks Brett,

I pulled the trigger and purchased it at Jantz. They had better price than Bader! I dont know how that works, but its ordered and I cant wait to get back to work again.
