I thought at first this was a 3" blade like a basic 3 wasn't till I read the specs that I figured out the 3 was for third generation Badger. Did anyone else get thrown off initially?

It seems to me, it might be better to follow the precedent of the SHII designation and refer to this new blade as the Badger Attack III to avoid confusion when this knife has a 4.5" blade.

Just my .02

Nuke on Jerry ...errr.. I mean grind on, yeah that's it GRIND ON!:)

I had the same confusion too. Though I'd love a BA with a 3" blade.

Hey, Good point! We'll have to change that! Thanks guys. . . . good observation!

Jerry

Badger with a 3" blade, hmmmmmmm..........

That pup would have some belly on it...

utmts4me,
That's what I thought at first...that it was a three inch bladed knife. I too think Badger Attack III is a much clearer way to write it. By the way Jerry, I am very excited about you bringing the BA back. The 3/16 INFI is going to awesome. I got a BAIII w/ SSN on order with one of your Busse-gals. Are the bevels tapered all the way to the spine or is the BAIII ground similar to the ZT's? Would it be possible to get a zero edge put on them at a later time? Thanks, Luke

Jerry, Actually, I was thrown off as well until I read the specs and then did a WTF? The size ofered is more to my liking, but perhaps you may want to consider Badger Attack 4 ot Badger Attack/Gen. III.

BA/4 would be good if you ever intended to come out with a 3" and BA/Gen III would be better if you had no intentions of coming out with a smaller Badger.

Would a smaller Badger Attack be called a Badger Skirmish?

Nimrod Special Edition Satin Jack would be better than all of the baove choices.:D

Come on guys! With all due respect:p aren't we being a bit anal retentive? From where I sit, Jerry could have named the BA3 the "Crochet Needle", "Badminton Racquet", "Gut Wrench", "Macrame Hook, or "croquet Mallet" for all I care. I'm still getting one (or more...).

In all honesty, I didn't take the moniker to mean anything other than Badger Attack 3rd Generation. As far as I know the Basics were the only line that was named according to blade length. I have seen Steel Hearts referred to as SH/SHI/SH1/SH2/SHII/SHE. These all seem to be acceptable and people understand to which of the SH models you are referring when you use them. It would never cross my mind to call my SH the SH7.5!?!

In short, I think that the BA3 label is just fine. Now... Jerry... Get back to that grinder! I need my INFI fix.

Hey Eric,

Thanks for the welcome. But, I've been around a bit and I'm kind of a regular over on the other Busse Forum (I'm Shikari on the other board).

I've been thinking this over and I've come up with a solution ( I know it's not really a problem but it was bothering me)

BA3 I don't mind
BAIII to much typing :D:D
I like mine BAg3(no not bag3;)) BA(badger attack) g3(generation 3)

So, from now on when you see me use BAg3, it refers to the Badger Attack Generation 3. Of course since it is the only Badger in production BA will be sufficient, just as SH is sufficient for the SH-e. Heck, unless we are talking about discontinued models BA, SH, BM, etc would be enough for any of the current models :D:D

I still like BAg3, though

Has this ever been officially determined yet by Busse? I still see BA3 and BAIII?

Yep, I think Jerry determined it above

Holly crap, talking about bring things back from the dead. I almost flipped thinking they were gonna start selling those as well, it was/is my favorite Busse, the one I never had and always wanted, I'd sell somebody's soul for it. As long as I'm concerned that would be a perfect user for me. Pityy urs are way put of my budget line.

I'm still confused about the CH SH designations also.
Like a SHSJ as it's more than often referred to is actually a CGSJ?
Any long time Hogs have any input?

CG = Combat Grade

SH = Straight Handle. (or Steel Heart depending on the context).

There is no such thing as a SHSJ... it is either a Satin Jack, or a Satin Jack Tac.
Both generations had CG and LE (Limited Edition) versions.

Uncle Jarvis was the porker that started calling the original Satin Jacks SHSJs...
It kind of caught on, but was met with some debate about the validity of calling it a "SH".
