Piet is a rare breed.
I had ordered some firesteels from him and they are great! I received them faster than some orders that I've made from companies here in the USA.
My payment to him disappeared into that great mailbag in the sky.
When Piet found that it wasn't there, he refused to allow me to send another ... said it's not their way of doing things.
Now ... this is a fundraiser for the scouts ... ain't no way I'm goona allow some kids to take it in the shorts. So, I sent him another payment with no problem.
Piet wants to 'make it up' to me by allowing his group to lose their profit on some glowrings ... and after some arm twisting on my part, he says they will take my money, if I'll allow him to send me another piece of Mayawood (this was my idea ... this guy just won't cut me any slack ... I HAVE to get something in return. Forget the fact that he sent these neat items to me without wanting payment until AFTER I get them!)
Well, today the 'package' arrived. Yup, you can guess. I know have enough mayawood (and extra toys) to build a small boat.
I have never been treated better by anybody ... this man's honorcode is not to be believed!

Thanks Piet ... you're the man!

No matter what you do, some things won't work out.

Worry about those things that you can make a difference with.

Thanks for sharing your dealings with Bagheera. I'm sure Bagheera is a great role model for his scouts. He's also a great role model for the rest of us.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

After I asked him not to, Piet sent me a glowring that he had set aside for himself. Said he could get another one later.

This guy is the VERY TOP!

Hi guys,

Now it's my turn, Mike himself is also a rare breed himself and I'm proud to know him even thow it's only through the e-mails we exchange.

Last Saturday (March 31st) I received an padded envelope from Hoods Woods and it contained the first volume of Ron Hood's Woodmaster video series, Firestarting.

On the invoice was my name but somewhere down below were the words "Paid by Mike Mlodzik".

Mike you are.... just a crazy guy to send us this VCR tape.

I put it in our video machine and for the next 1+ hour noboddy moved and just watched the tape.
It's a tape that even our Scouts can follow with ease even thow some of them don't really speak English.
The Firestarting tape is very educational without overwhelming the viewer with to much or to fast information sequences.

I had to take my VCR to the scouting club because my VCR plays NTSC tapes and we played the tape for our Explorers.
We plan on doing this for our Scouts also, but will combine this so that after watching the tape we will bring what we've seen into practice.

Mike, from this side of the Ocean thatnks for this video tape.

We spoke it over in our group and we decided to contact Mr. Hood to get some more (perhaps all

) volumes for our Scouting group.

Thanks again Mike,

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

Yes, Piet/Bagheera is one of the best. I bought some firestarters from his scouting group and the service was just as described above, excellent. I also appreciate that he is always positive in his posts, and brings good things to the discussions.

I have gotten a fire steel and two glowrings from him. These things are great! You can't beat the service and it helps out some scouts!

The first knife was probably used to cut stuff.
