Bagwell Birds Head Gent's Bowie

too cool! Thanks Joe

Lorien Thanks:)

Crossada there is something about this knife that really draws me to it. Bill does not build a fragile knife and even though blackwood is a hard wood I think the Stag HB will weather daily carry abit more. Stag is tough and I know the time Bill has in a birds head and would not want to beat it up. Truly a dress knife for a cave man like me.

What configuration did you guys go with for your new HB. Anxious to see it when it is done:thumbup:

i went with the classic coffin handle in blackwood like my carbon version. that handle just feels best to me. i like the looks of stag but my stag handles just don't sing to me like Bill's coffins.

when i placed the order i asked Bill what he put on for fittings on a damascus coffin handled HB and he said the same as the regular carbon blades but i'm curious if he can do all damascus like on your damascus HB. i think it would look sweet with damascus pin work but i'm not sure if it is possible without talking to Bill. just a thought.

Doug this one is 1084 . I am glad you like it

Roger thanks

Crossada I think that would look great . Shoot him an email or a call .. IMHO he is really doing some of his best work ..

Damascus does look great as fittings especially if you like that sort of stealth look; really makes the knife look a lot sleeker and classier.
The etch is dark so you don't really see it. Then when you look in close you see all the really intricate work and the beauty of it and it really sets it off.
I love the understated beauty of it all. Love that the knife is still a knife and hasn't become all covered with embellishment to the point that you wouldn't dare use it all.

Very, very nice! Gentleman's and Proper Fighter are good words for this knife. I love massive blades but the proportions look so right I'd want it just the way it is.

That is one great handle and the sheath is also "proper". Congrats Joe!!!

Sorry to pull this back up but Paul Long just sent me the pics of the new sheath. Again I want to state Bill's sheath is a piece of pragmatic art and the only reason this went to paul is well hell almost all of my knives go to Paul. He is the best. As usual he did not dissapoint and he gave me exactly what I wanted and I am really digging his full frontal gator and Croc sheaths.. Thanks Paul. looks like I did not oil that stud to well after I blued it and polished it. I know you guy's are probale getting sick of these big fluted studs and even Paul would have prefered one of Bill's hand made one's but these are what I have available and they work very well.

I love Paul's full hide sheaths.
Now my question is, does he just do these for himself and you or the rest of us as well? ;) :) :D

Very much impressed not only with the blade and overall construction, but also
with JP's knowledge and keen insight into blade culture.
Although we have a tradition to admire sword embellishments separately,
there once was a time to carry only embellishments because the blade was too heavy :(
and it is generally considered as a shameful decay of samurai-ship.

Thank you Fujita I have a long ongoing love affair with the Japanese Sword and what it represents. My fear with in the knife world is that althought art and highly decorated knives have there place and should be admired I hope that the true merits of the properly forged and tempered blade will not go into obscurity as man gets farther away from actually admireing what blades where ment to be used for tool ,weapon or what have you. There has always been a place for both I just hope true performance blades do not disappear as a culture gives way into looking at blades instead of useing them. That is why makers must test and find the true magic in the steel that it can take a beating hold an edge sharpen easily and how it feels in the hand for it's intended uses.

You suck, Joe! :D
I have 5 blades sitting here in front of me with no sheaths. :o

I really like the full frontal gator/croc sheaths as well.
Absolutely fantastic work, Paul.

Doug

Paul is a phone call away and believe it or not each one is better than the last so you are bound to get a good one.
