I reported a few days ago that after a long wait I was finally blessed with two Bagwell knives. Well, the day before yesterday I decided to try them out. I have no safe queens, my knives earn their keep. I tried them on four deer I killed. I forgot to take a sharpening stone with me so the knives had to do the work with the edges they brought to work. The knives were: A Bagwell Bowie, a Bagwell Damascus hunting knife, a 440V T. Bose, and a D-2 R. Bose. The two latter being old hands at this kind of work. The two former, new for me.
All the knives performed flawlessly. They cut like razors to the bitter end. The Bagwell hunter has a tip that doesn't quit. However, what really astounded me was the Bowie.
(Disclaimer, not for the faint of heart.) The last deer I shot fell neatly as the others but when I went to pick it up it tried to ram me. I only had the Bowie on me and I had to put this animal to sleep fast. A swift swing of the Bowie to the neck of the deer cut it like lard and that was the end of that. I couldn't believe how smoothly and deeply the knife went through muscle, cartilage, sinew, arteries and veins. The Bagwell Bowie is as deadly as a buck-shot loaded shotgun at short range. Amazing.
