Bagwells are made for hard work....

Esav, just a respectful minor disagreement. the thread, in my opinion, was just as much about the performance of a custom Bagwell knife/knives as it was about hunting. In fact, the omission of the gun calibre, scope, distance and weather conditions would tend to make it less about hunting and more about the custom knife performance.

Severedthumbs: I had no idea you were so sensitive and easily scarred. As you know I craft things from leather. In the future I will search for leather from cows that died peacefully in their sleep.

A little more about the knives and a little less about the performance would have kept it where it was.

Any outsider looking objectively at this thread would have thought it was about the hunt, not the tools used.

severedthumbs does have a point. The thread was advertised as being about knives. He should not have expected to see a hunting scene in that forum. A true disclaimer would have been placed in the title of the thread.

This thread is all about the use of custom knives and I find it ridiculous to move it.

I forgot custom knives are to only look at and not use

If the OP would have showed the knives chopping wood would you have moved it to the chopping wood forum

Knives sometimes are made to use and if they are a custom and being showed being used then they belong in the custom forum

I have long posted my use of custom knives in the field without a problem on this forum and now because one person has a hissy fit you are going to change what has never been a problem and BF's policy is to now only show custom knives as collectables I will find another place to frequent.

All of you forum members that use your custom knives should speak up here or soon none of the important characteristics of a custom knife will be welcome here beside cosmetic virtues

All of my custom knives, and several of my older factory production knives are used to reduce animals to their basic components. I relish eating the meat part. Most of those knives also have leather sheaths.

However, that said, I will not join in snarkey criticism of a moderator's decision to move a thread from one forum to another as they see fit.

I have to say myself that I agree with Joe. What more basic use of a knife is there that its usage hunting. It is, after all, a tool. One of the best, the oldest and the most suited to do such tasks as shown in this thread.
We could test knives all we want at home and in the backyard but in the end it has to go out into the field to see how it really copes with the tasks shown in this thread and many more besides.
Least that's my opinion too :)

Geez, people, give it a rest. OK, either forum would have been appropriate as far as I'm concerned - this is about the knives and about hunting. It's a great post, and I don't see the need to ruin it by everybody getting their panties in a bunch over what sub-forum it's in.
