I can get two flourescent orange Bahco Laplander folding saws for the price of one medium sized Silky. Which would you go for ? I'm thinking that the Bahco's are the better deal....................

They both have a good reputation. Are you going to pack this? I would go with the lighter of the two if that's the plan. I think it's the Bahco. I have one and it's definitely light for the size.

One in a pack and one will be a beater for general use. I kind of wanted one as a back up.

I tried them both one day on the same piece of wood. The Silky was better.

I carry the Bahco, though, since it's so light.

Yes I saw comparisons which infered that the Silky cut more efficiently. But they seemed relatively close in the vids that I saw, so I grabbed a couple of Laplanders. I really like the bright orange. I kind of want one as a normal user now and then to see how they hold up, and a back up non user in top condition.

I have both a silky 210 and laplander. The Bahco is lightweight and less expensive... the Silky cuts better (marginally), just depends on what you want!

Came within a hair of getting the 170 Silky, but two for one and the bright colour did it for me. If they don't meet my goals then I can go Silky later. I actually don't plan on these as being primary cutting tools, more as back ups. I believe in multiple redundancy with cutting tools and fire starters. Thanks for the experince/input bud.

I use a Carona. There is something to be said for Arborist Hand Saws. I would go with the Silky.

i was looking at the green handle / black blade laplander myself. seems like the replacements blades are discontinued tho, wonder why. and bahco.com says to order a new saw if the blade gets too worn to be used. that or buy a bootleg low quality replacement blade.

anyone know how the revised bahco/kershaw folder with orange handle compared to the bahco green handle / black blade version?

I have 3 silkys and love them. I have 2 smaller and one medium. Work great and even my neighbors borrow them as they have seen me use them in the over grown yard of our new house.

Maybe I ordered that Kershaw\Bahco collaboration saw? The two that I ordered were about $18.00 each and were bright orange. I saw on the same site that replacement blades were high enough that I might as well just get the second saw. This may have been a good idea as I have seen many complaints that the replacement blades were jobbed out by the factory and are inferior to the originals.

How long have the blades stayed working sharp ? Are they holding up with a lot of work, edge wise ?

I have used the Silkys and they were pretty nice. Still have not replaced my Fiskars saws yet though. You may want to take a look at them. The newer Fiskars has a hole in the end and you can mount it on a pole and tie it off for reaching higher branches.

I've heard the newer Fiskars aren't nearly as good, but I haven't any first-hand experience with it.

The first folding saw I ever bought was a Fiskars pruner ... I was not at all impressed by it's performance.

I then purchased one of these Bahcos ... this baby chews through wood
