Bailey Bradshaw, MS - Fisherman-themed katana

well, once again I am at a loss for words.........

I would love to have that thing sitting on in my living room!!!!!:p

Been following Bailey's work for years and am beginning to think (a few years ago) that there is little that he can not accomplish when it comes to knives and when he makes his mind up to try something. I can not wait to see what he has for Steven.

Stunning work. Great job Bailey.
Coop, you never cease to amaze me. You ability to take a wonderful work such as this and let us see every aspect that can be seen in two dimensions is also a rare art.

Looking forward to seeing many of you in the next few days. Everyone have great and safe trips. Look me up, especially if something comes up I can lend a hand with.

What an exceptional piece - congrats to all involved, particularly the fortunate new owner.

Thanks for giving us a real good look at this one, Coop.

Bailey is super versatile. I have a Khanjar he recently sent me which is amazing. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to take pics of it for a long while.

Finally ( almost) finished with getting ready for Blade, so I have a moment to chime in here.

First, Thanks to Coop for showing some serious skills and putting in even more serious effort on the photos.

Thanks for the compliments on this one. Japanese style swords are always a challenge and never seem to get easier. This one came with very specific dimensions and styling as it will be used to train Iai-do with. The bo-hi is there to give the blade a "voice" . ( bo-hi,...the long groves on the blade make a whoosh noise when a cut is made)

I must say it is one of my favorite blades I have made. It handles very nice and fits me pretty well. I found myself practicing a little with it now and then...;)

Again, thanks for the kind words and hopefully it's new owner will come forth and be recognized!!

So Coop- Do you get the grins when something like this is delivered to be photographed?

That’s beautiful.

I was just waiting for you to chime in here, my friend!

Folks, Bailey did EVERYTHING on this katana except make the menuki. And he did it in far less time than any other katana project I've ever witnessed (or even heard about). On top of this we had some good long discussions over the design/theme of the sword, and from what Coop's pics are saying I think Bailey nailed it. Bailey, I promise not to call you again until after BLADE. ;)

I can't wait to bring this sword to the dojo to train. Of course it is primarily for kata but if the opportunity to cut a mat or two arises, I won't shirk my obligations. :D

Thanks also to Coop for taking this photo project on and making those images 'pop' the way he does!

Awesome katana.
Photographed strikingly by Coop.

Congrats bluejaunte ! :)

Aaron,
congratulations on getting a fantastic piece. I have a number of Bailey's knives, and have long wanted one of his swords. His work is so versatile--every piece is different, and every one is amazing.

So Coop- Do you get the grins when something like this is delivered to be photographed?
I would be lying if I said I was smacking my hands in delight--but only because I *knew* how much work this was going to be for me. (I have photographed about 6 swords, and they require a complete revamp of my studio and are fussy with the lighting. I told Arron and Bailey I shot 200 images (no lie!) to finalize about 6 for display. Getting light into that dark tsuba was a challenge, as was the hamon, as was HOW to lay out the package.)

The final product was satisfying from mine, and Bailey's, and Aaron's standpoint, and now from all of you.

I am grinning ear to ear, NOW! I have to agree with everyone. I was stunned with the workmanship and quality.

Coop - reporting from the hotel at BLADE... ;)
