This is a knife I designed for camp chores and some game processing. The fine tip is on the front of the 4" blade is great for carving and detail work. You will find the spine to be a sharp 90 deg for scraping and striking a ferro rod. There is a slight curve to the spine over the entire 8 1/4" length which helps push cutting by moving the leverage forward.
The O1 tool steel is an excellent blade steel. It has excellent toughness and wear resistance but is also easily sharpened in the field. The blade has been heat treated and oil quenched. Then it receives 2 temper cycles to increase toughness. The flat grind makes a great slicer and leaves a generous spine for batoning and scraping.
The handle material is a dense strong wood called Katalox. The shape of the knife incorporates a gentle palm swell that increases comfort and reduces fatigue while the front has a thumb sized flat spot for added control and indexing. It has brass pins and lanyard tube. It is all bonded together with Acraglas for extra strength and water resistance.
The sheath is made from 6-8oz vegetable tanned leather that has been dyed to accent the handle. The entire sheath is hand sewn and all edges are sealed for added durability.
