This is my Wapiti design. It was designed as a hunting knife was a capable camp knife also. The drop point at the front of a 5" blade provides a fine tip fro processing game. You will find the spine a sharp 90 deg angle for scraping ferro rods or hides. There is a slight curve over the 9 3/4"overall length that pushes the leverage forward for push and power cuts. The balance is exactly at the pommel before the handle is added. When finished the balance is right at the first finger which reduces hand fatigue and increases control.
O1 tool steel is an excellent choice for a field knife. It holds an edge very well but is not hard to field sharpen. The blade has been heat treated and oil quenched. Then it receives a double temper cycle to improve toughness. The flat grind makes a great cutting edge but leaves a generous spine for batoning and scraping.
The handle of the knife is made from a custom black hounds tooth composite material. It is all bonded together with Acraglas. It also comes with a handmade leather sheath.
Price is $175. To purchase and see more of my work go to http://Benakinknives.com
