Just picked one up, been looking at them for a while now. What makes them interesting is they are slim, and shaped like good handles. The are slim and perfectly shaped, I have seen handles that are 40 years old and not shaped as good as these. Thought I would let guys know. And yes the Kerf isn't always aligned and you're Finns have to sort thru em to get the right grain, then sand off the lacquer. But they require almost no shaping, and the lacquer isn't really a bad thing, it protects them in shipping and handling. Oh and I picked this up at Menards.

Interesting. We don't have Menards out here. I wonder if they have other retailers.

Got pics?

Hey, thanks for posting. I don't remember that brand so I looked them up.

Here is a snip from a 2012 catalog:

I was in my local Menards a few weeks ago and they did not have any 36" wood handles. :grumpy:

They are available online. However, I couldn't find an eye size measurement . But I didn't do a real thorough search. Note the catalog snip I posted does not give this dimension.

I ran across them in Menards as well and they were the most attractive on the shelf handles I've seen. I contacted them (this was quite a while back) and they told me 36" was all they did. Kinda looks like they might be expanding. Interesting that their own catalog pages don't look quite as good as what I remember seeing on the shelf but like I said, it was a while back. I don't recall the "Boy Scout" handle - I think there will be some folks interested in a 24" handle.

Funny how they use a handle with a prominent knot in it for one of their product images. Not that it reflects the typical product, but one would expect them to pick a better example than that for showcasing them. :D

Just to give an idea on eye size, my 4 pound true temper Dayton with ridges in the eye required some fitting. It was less then on other handles, but it completely fills the eye unlike some handles by link. All the ones I looked at had pretty much the same dimensions from handle to handle, link is very different. But that's a different topic.

Item G is no prize either what with the obvious runout. As long as you can 'pick through the pile' something good usually shows up which is why I hate to buy 'sight unseen'. These Baker handles are pretty stingy with their curves but that actually attracts me. Makes for a stronger handle whenever the grain isn't dead-on vertical!
