Here is my newly acquired balance knife. Its specs are 35oz, 16.5 OAL, full tang, sataal wood handles. 5/16" spine
this knife came today, and was RAZOR sharp out of the box. it feels very nimble for the heft it has, which makes it dangerous for beginners to use( gotta learn to respect the power).

Can someone please identify the kami mark, thanks.

I am looking forward to making this my main camping knife until my custom KLVUK comes.
As always a big shoutout to Mrs. Yangdu for great customer service and epic fast shipping. She must have an inside man in USPS, cause nothing else i get shipped from west coast gets here in 2 days, lol. even when i select two day shipping.:p

The kami marks are the same as on my recently acquired tibetan long sword, which was made by both Kumar and Sher. The six-pointed star is Kumar's mark, so I guess the cross with the circle is Sher's? But at 16.5" and 35 ounces, and with the dual fullers, that looks more like a CAK than a balance knife?

Nope, it is a balance knife, i am sure.

thanks ndoghouse:),

I know/hope it is a balance knife cause Mrs. Yangdu didnt have another KLVUK to replace the one i sent in, she said" i have a balance knife i can send you if you would like that as a replacement", and i said, yes please, and thanks. and in that order. so if she did send me a CAK by accident, i would send back to get propper replacement as that isnt a fair deal for her, sending me a $175 dollar knife for a $65 KLVUK that had a tang issue. what is the difference between the two? both are full tang, can reach the weight i have. altho, the CAK at this size would weigh 45oz+ right? aren't they the stoutest knives HI produces for the given size?

I don't think the shape is right for a CAK. Looks like a double fullered balance to me.

yeah kumar is the 6 pointed star and sher is the 4 point sun I think-- sher has always had some variant of a sun marking as his mark, ive seen full , half, many rayed, simple rayed , but always a circle with rays or rising sun with rays-- kumar's 6 pointed star mark matches keshar lal's mark in the early years, before taking bura's crescent then his most recent ( cant remember what tha tis for keshar I think just an arrow? )-- and wow, that is what you got as a replacement for your kvluk ??!!!!!-- auntie is truly an angel, you had better be a customer for life to honor her gift!

Gehazi, she got me as a customer for life, on the first purchase. Her customer service is top notch. I was only ever expecting a answer on this forum how to fix my tang issue, i never expected her to replace it, let alone offer a upgrade. That action alone proves she is worthy of every penny i have spent/will spend with her.

+1. The fullers are more attractive than the usual CAK.
This one also has a single line instead of the usual sword of shiva on the CAK.
An amazing trade-in deal!

Gehazi, Keshar Lal is still using the moon. The two most recent KL blades I've bought had it. I think I figured out that the KLSK I started the thread about was actually made by one of the new kamis, can't remeber which one. I need to update that thread I made about it.

The VUK I picked up, and also a 20" 32 ounce Sirupati, were both made by Lok kami, and his sign is a little fish. Has anyone heard anything more about Lok's condiiton, and whether he is recovering from Typhoid?

Oh that's pretty..

I wonder if it's rated for field use? It sure looks like it.

As an aside - Poor Lok! I didn't know he had poor health. Hope he recovers.

i know what a KLVUK is, but i had never heard of a VUk as a model.

The KLVUK is one of the newest models. Only available as DOTD on ths forum. It seems that Keshar Lal began making them and until very recently was the only HI kami making that model, so Yangdu bestowed his name on the model.

What usually happens is that when a model becomes popular, as this one has, other kamis begin making them and the original name might or might not stick. Personally I'd still call it a KLVUK, after the originator, even if it is made by Lok or another kami.

Here is the original listing, and it referred to it as a "LVUK":

Deals for 5/13/14 --Pix, Lok Villager Utility Knife, AK Bowie and Usual Good Buys

15.5 inch 21 ounce LVUK by Lok Kami.

Before KL was making them, there was also the Vim Utility Knife... I've seen a couple while searching around in the archives.
