I would guess, being an insert handle knife, that it could reach $700+.....These don't come along very often.

Hey...Is that a custom made bali-song and was it ground by Jody Sampson?

Is there anyone that could give me more info. on this bali-song that is up for auction? Was it a custom or a regular production bali?

I would have to assume it's a custom, but concerning who ground it, I have no clue. You might want to email the seller and ask them as they should have the most info on it, but as they can't tell a clip from a bowie, you never know.
 
The seller isn't very knowledgeable about what he is auctioning, that's too bad. I don't think that there ever was a production Bali-Song that had inserts, and yes, it was ground by Jody Samson, who else?!?

It really looks nice but nothing is said of a sheath/box/papers of course it is a "wee-hawk" blade (a simple search and he would know it is not a wee-hawk or anything close to a wee-hawk) with black and chrome metal handles

I e-mailed him about a box, sheath, papers and OAL.

He read my e-mail, but didn't answer back.

I e-mailed the seller with some questions as well. So, far no reply. I'll let you know if I get a response.
 
I received a reply from the seller. I did not ask if a box or paper work came with it. I asked more about the condition of the knife. He says that it has been used and been carried, but is still in excellent condition. I think it an awesome knife.

It pains me to think that I once passed up one of these (had some minor nicks in the blade) and a custom Elishewitz that were offered to me as a trade for an Emerson Commander pre production. If only I could go back in time and kick myself

Here is the low down on Micarta from Patrick over at TAD...took this off another forum..

"micarta is an ol' tried and true standby material used in countless knives, custom or factory. the stuff is a linen or canvas cloth layered and bonded with phenolic resin. it is the more "organic" version of G-10 which is fiber glass cloth impregated or bonded with another type of "resin".

i have always been partial to micarta because it feels "warmer" in the hand and is less slick when wet with water or blood( no folks not from sentry removal, but rather skining game) when compared to G-10. however G-10 is considered more resilient to foreign "goo" and some chemicals. micarta also feels much less plasticky and more like wood."

Thanks Quijebo! So in other words it is just a form of plastic that is colored? I always prefer skeletonized handles over inserts but it is always cool to find out new info. If I were to be the person having this made by PC I would have chosen a better insert then "micarta" (though it is not bad).
